I think Marijuana for personal use and in private should be legalized for the simple reason that it doesn't affect anyone. People on the streets smoke EVERYWHERE, even 10ft away from a no-smoking sign simply because they're not in the premises, but that doesn't mean others can't smell it.

Sure, there's hash, but people won't be walking around holding a bong trying to smoke. People walk around with cigarettes.

I think that neither should be banned. Also, people obviously would be far more prone to smoke marijuana in public were it legalized...

Legal/illegal – doesn't really matter. The police don't care for it much unless they're bored or you're carrying a hefty amount. Cigarette smoke is one of a multitude of smells that waft around the city and beyond – car fumes, fish at the market, cow **** in the fields, Chinese restaurants, farts in the lift, etc. Why single out one that you don't like?

So its legal to smoke marijuana, as long as its not in public and people can't smell it? If they were to legalise it you'd expect that you could be free to engage in it wherever you want without much interference, otherwise you'd be acting the same as you would be when it was illegal. There would be absolutely no point to it.

Everything should be legal. We can save money trying to police it, make money taxing it, and make an attempt to run a fully funded budget in this country.

Well, I have several farmers in my family, and cow crap is pretty stinky. I find it to be like a kind of sweet, sickly poo. But who's to say the smell of smoke to one person is any worse than the smell emitting from the local greasy kebab shop for another?

No, just ban odours. The man with body odour in the shop? 6 months in jail and lifetime monitoring of deodorant application. People who fart in the lift? Deoderised anal plug inserted for life and registered as a known 'public guffer'. I think it would work

How about we make it so we can please everyone? Both are only to be allowed inside their homes. That way people won't have to breathe it while out public and those who need their cravings can do so.

Except that a bong isn't exactly convenient to carry around while shopping. I see people smoking all the time. There will definitely be less people smoking marijuana in public like outside shopping centers or while window shopping even if it were legal. I didn't say Tobacco should be banned. I said cigarettes. ANY form of cigarette that produces large amounts of hazardous smoke. You don't exactly smoke a bong while riding a bike or driving.

Because those people relax at the expense of others. Smoke in your own house or in those "smoking rooms" and I'm fine with it. There are some considerate smokers that ask if you mind before lighting it.

Both should be legal. What should be illegal is littering your cigarette butt. It might be technically illegal (I'm not quite sure), but they should definitely enforce anti-littering policies better. I smoke cigarettes, and it really isn't that hard just to hold a butt until you find a trash can. I hate seeing cigarettes littered everywhere. It's obnoxious.

Not at all. Its all about the trading process that is such a drag. And if they were to legalize you'd not expect that you are free to engage wherever you want, you cant do that not even in Amsterdan, I have no idea why you'd think so

The reason is that pot smokers arent marginalized, they are productive, normal, smart and dont want to be treated as criminals in the eyes of the law, that is the point!

You simply can't ban cigarettes. It doesn't work. You cannot ban something that is highly addictive, has been legal for centuries, and that millions are addicted to. It just cannot be done.

I've seen people walk around with joints.

I can't get high off of second hand cigarette smoke.
