I want to learn how to play guitar, tips?

I want to know how i should start learning. Should i learn through youtube videos and websites or ask a friend to teach me? Should i borrow a friend's guitar until i know that i like playing and want to get one myself or should i just buy one right away? Also, any first song reccomendations?

By the way i want to learn how to play electric guitar.

I taught my self. I just grabbed a chord sheet (the ones which showed you what strings to hold down) and grabbed some songs and picked one that I felt was easy and went from there.

What kind of music do you want to play? My suggestion is to learn the chords first. Even though I taught myself, a guitar teacher would be best. They'll pick up your mistakes and correct them.
