You basically spend one minute typing something you can say in 5 seconds. Why the hell do people do it, I mean why cant they just call. And of coure every teen has a cell phone with microscopic keyboard on it. I guess its the "new" way of passing notes in class.

Generally I'm with you, but sometimes it's useful to be able to formulate your wording very carefully.

When I'm at work I prefer to text, esp. if it is personal.

people who text me are intrusive. I will not reply. If they text me a 2nd time, I will block their phone number.

Texting is often cheaper in the short term.. Most companies give free texts when you top up 'x' amount. I am with you thoe for the people who have long drawn out conversations over text. Even more annoying when they are doing so whilst your in the middle of talking to them..

Why do most people think it is fine to just start texting while your having a conversation with them?

Texting costs me 1c. Calling for 30 seconds probably costs me at least $1. Plus you can text anywhere, you can't just take a call in class, also texts are useful as they give people something to refer to (like details for an arrangement).

Unless, I tell a person, "Feel free to call me," I will most likely not answer my phone if they call. Per month, I probably talk a total of 100 minutes, but my texts are well over a thousand

That's the best time to confess to things. If they're not listening, but just nodding their heads, that's not your fault - you've told them and can sleep easy.

Well if people like it, I guess it's alright for them. It's extremely unhealthy with all of this modern constant communication. I think it's stupid.

Sometimes texting can be easier though, as it doesn't mean you have to talk to the person and you can send exactly what information you want them to know, and they can refer to it at anytime. Texting is also generally cheaper, and can be quicker in some cases, as well as being more private. :)

What I really don't get is why people TEXT AND DRIVE at the same time. That's the dumbest thing I've ever seen... one of them anyways. One guy almost got in a wreck for doing that. But texting is useful in someways. But It doesn't make sence to be going back and forth trying to do a whole conversation with texting. It takes longer. Using your mouth is faster.

ummm ok?....texting is a great tool..it allows you to get information from people without actually having to take the time to have a conversation with them.....a lot of times I just need something but don't want to get caught up having a convo....

Exactly. Texting pisses me off.

One thing I hate is when you're in a group and they have, like, forty ways of contacting you, but they text you. Even if you say "Don't text me, I don't have the money for it."

I find it perfect for short exchanges, but I hate it when somebody tries to have long, drawn-out conversations with me. The constant text notification sounds really bug me when I'm trying to get something done.

I prefer texting over calling easily.

1) I can talk to multiple people

2) if I dont want to respond to them I dont have to

3) its a lot easier

As much as I like talking on the phone, my friends rather text me. I don't mind texting, but it seems like well... I hardly ever use my minutes. I have a phone for people to call and talk to me, not text. I have instant messengers for what they want to do.

The only time texting annoys me is when I see people doing it in class or while driving.

I think texting is less intrusive than calling anyway.

As for benefits: 1. It's more private. 2. It's more discreet, (sneak the odd text off in class, in a meeting without disrupting anyone,) 3. You can be more 'strategic'. properly place words, giving off the exact impression you want to.

Texting is convenient because its like leaving a note, if you call, someone might be too busy to have a conversation, but with texting they can just read it, and then get back to whatever they were doing.

It is when people start having conversations through texting, that I don't understand.

I much prefer to text, especially when I don't know what someone else is doing.
