Out of curiosity Film Guy, do you enjoy metalcore?

*crosses fingers*

:P

Yandere

I could name you some Deathcore/Slam Death.

Err... Name a few. I don't quite know if I'd like it, but I could name off a list of all the metalcore bands I have in my iPod to see if I do have a few. At least I'm assuming they're metalcore. :P

No, I have not and I congratulate you for giving me viking metal. Quite the stuff really. :P
You also inspired me to make Last.fm account, I will eventually add you. 8)

I would like to add Dark Tranquility, Be'Lakor. Wintersun, and Pandemonium to his rec's :P (And Pandemonium have their full discography available for free download at their site:D (Rest of their stuff is under the media section.) Add me on last.fm as well:P (Click the image in my sig)

Ah, yes, those first three are all great (in terms of albums, I personally recommend Haven, Stone's Reach, and Wintersun, respectively).

Character>Haven IMO.

I like symphonic metal, you know, organs and violins and pianos and all that jazz. Some bands I like are Serenity, Nightwish, Kamelot, and Within Temptation. I like just about anything with an epic feel.

The heaviness is fine, I just hate hate HATE the pig squealing. (No offense) If you're wondering, I really enjoy whatever core this is. Which I'm pretty sure is merely metalcore :P : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eWEuPvr5Uc Favorite core song as of the moment.

Neko Case

The Decemberists

White Rabbits

Handsome furs

Wild Beasts

The Xx

Their kind of prog is more 70s like Yes and Genesis, I like them but their longer tracks dragged a bit. I dont know how this will work though. 77 minutes is a while. On another note though, do you like The Tangent?

Guppy507

Yeah, I like The Tangent, but they're not one of my favorites. I also like The Flower Kings, which 2 of their members are from.

the Flower kings are pretty good, though their music gets a bit monotonous after a while for me. I much prefer porcupine tree, frost, anekdoten, and pure reason revolution:P

Me too. Have you heard of Magenta? They're a Welsh prog rock band with a female vocalist.

Yeah I like them. The Reasoning are another welsh prog band with a female vocalist. I prefer Magenta though.

Dear Film Guy,

I really hate the pop punk genre but one band that I've always enjoyed was Blink 182 (and also The Pillows but that's a whole different story). Tell me why is it that I can't find any other good band in this genre?

P.S. No bands with B 182 members or anything on alternative radio cause that's the kind of stuff that puts me off.
