Ideas are needed!!!

Ok so my older brother got this sweet alternate hard drive for Christmas and it has like 300GB.He moved out and left it here, and Ive been using it lately for my needs. He's coming back to visit this weekend. I still want to use it so what should I do. Should I hide it?? Ideas are needed.

What would happen if he found out you are using it? O_o

You only need to mark it a little bit, no need to drench the hard drive. Just enough so your brother knows he has lost his claim over it.

I'm no lawyer but I think it would be considered 'abandoned' at this point. Not to say you couldn't go back and get it or ask for it. Just that if somebody else found it and is using it they can legitimately say that it is their's and they do not have to give it back. Me thinkest.

Actually, that reminds me that here in Portugal, this guy had bought a house, then he went to live somewhere (don't really remember where).. Then he came back and some random people were living in his house. He couldn't claim ownership over the house since he was out for.. I think 20 years.

Idea #1. Stop being a thief and give back the HDD that doesnt belong to you.

Idea #2. Buy your own friggin HDD.

Idea #3. If they cost to much for you, get a job, then buy your own friggin HDD.

That actually got my thinking so I checked it out. Guess it varies widely by state. In my state most material property is considered abandoned after 30 days with no contact from the original owner. Financial, property, and mineral assets are much longer. But then, I guess it is not abandoned if he spoke with him in the past month.

now you cant surely have filled the HDD, why not burn some of it onto DVDs temporarily, they are cheap.

and its his HDD, if he wants it, its his. If your lucky, you can keep it.

When he asks you for it, pretend to start looking for it and like you're having this incredibly hard time finding it and keep saying "I know it's around here somewhere....."

or you could just ask if you can continue using it or hope he didnt care about it enough to remember about it
