... do you think you could find it in your heart to forgive him? Face it, we all do stupid things and that affect the lives of the people around us, but accidentally setting fire to your own apartment which then burns down the entire building is one of the worst. Let's just say this guy was a really nice guy who everyone just loved to hang out with, but he did something like leaving the stove unattended? Do you think you could ever forgive him?JustPlainLucas
It would depend on two things. First if it was accidental or not and secondly if a family member was hurt or killed.
Edit ~ Also, good to see you back JPL. :)
I would. After successfully suing him for all the damage he caused.
But I don't know, that's a hard one to answer. There's always going to be a feeling of scorn and resentment for the person who burned down your home, I think. But if no one died it could make things easier. An accident is just that.

:| Where the hell have you been? ... :P
But let me expound on this a bit. Let's say no one was hurt, and everything was covered by insurance, so the worst of this was just a major inconvience of having to live with family/friends until the apartment was rebuilt.

:) I've known you were back for awhile, this just happened to be the first thread I've run into on. Smart ass. :) If no one was hurt, I'd be irritated but I would forgive the person. Is this something personal JPL?
No, just saw a story on the TV about a duplex that burned down.
I'd forgive him, but I'd still be incredibly cheesed off.
The hassle of recovering my data, both from charred hard drives and partial backups, the pain of dealing with the insurance company to try and replace those things that are actually replacable, and the frustration of shuffling around the various pieces of my life into a temporary home while juggling work and school and a pregnant girlfriend...ugh. Like I don't have enough stress already.
That and if I wasn't home at the time, my cat would also be killed. That'd suck.

Now.. the death of my pet... that would really change things....
