Dude. If a tree falls in a forest and every human in the world hears it but me, then it didn't make a sound.

That's only because you would have heard it along with every other human in the world. Why should I believe you, let alone care?

Sure, a tree *might* have fallen.

The world does not have enough processing power to waste on effects when no one is there to see them. Thats why we have day and night, half the world are asleep while the rest are awake, now it only has to render one half of the world at any one time.

I disagree that tree's fall all by themselves. They require our listening power.

Of course it does, I'm sick of this dumb little riddle. Someone doesn't have to hear it for the noise to be happening.

I've always said yes it does make a sound...but then others would argue "How can sound exist with nobody around to hear it?" which is crazy...sound doesn't stop because humans are not present...I'm sure the furry little chipmunk heard it as he was woken up by his housing breaking into pieces...

Therefore a wood chuck could chuck an indefinite amount of wood, given the appropriate resources. OMG! *dies*

Since there must be an observer to see whether or not the laws of physics have changed or remained the same causing there to be a sound or not, it cannot be known for certain whether or not a sound was made. However, if the laws of physics do not change, then the falling tree will make a sound, both as it cuts through the air around it, and as it touches anything along the way to the ground.

A simple yes or no would have been fine.
