Poll If all states were their own countries. Which state should we blame for the hatred of our country? (32 votes)
I would probably say Texas. Racism is common in the south end other stuff as well.

I would rather not blame someone else for my problems unless they should be tried in court. In which case, blaming a state is not a great idea because it is a reminder of the American Civil War and the negative consequences of the Reconstruction which are arguably still experienced, today.
The second most hated Northern State would be West Virginia, They Voted for a former KKK leader to be it's senator in 2010, what's up with that?
@Master_Live: @BranKetra: the United States is hated as a whole, to some people there are no exceptions and thus we wanna probably prove that not every state is the same and nope, this is not a hate on the south thread
@silkylove: sorry I really want it to hurry on making the people and plus I forgot about some states

I utilized the American Civil War as an example of how blaming a part of the whole as the sole reason for faults can lead to bad results. I was not specifically mentioning that I would rather you not talk about the South, negatively.
I feel like the deep south is responsible for a disproportionate number of problems the U.S. has.
i.e. Alabama and Mississippi are crap
@iloveatlus: It's New York and it's not even close. Sad that because of one disgusting city located on an island between two rivers places what would otherwise be a rather pleasant state as the most hateful and corrupt state in the history of the country. The flustered passion of hatred that comes from NY that hates the Christian, hates the Isreali, hates the white, hates the patriotic, hates the heterosexual, hates the family, hates the righteous, hates the taxpaying worker, hates the working poor, etc. The spacial orientation of the people in NY is almost completely inverted, they can't tell up from down.
Let's also not forget that New York was the only state of the original 13 colonies to not vote for independence from England; Anti-Americanism runs in the state's blood.
As for West Virginia, yeah, they've been voting for Robbie Byrd since Eisenhower was president. They're definitely up there, but I don't think they're #2.
New York, all the greedy bankers are from there, and corruption is common in the northern states.
Yeah I think that's true, about corruption being common in the northern states, Massachusetts imo is severely hurting from corruption, not sure about the whole state but definitely the western half I'd say. A city close by me has got to be up there on the most depressing/seemingly endless sinking ship garbage barge you call a city, ever. Also another big problem, a corrupt hospital. Baystate.

Mass is bad too. How else can one explain the "Big Dig" project?
New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are equally as bad. The politicians there keep getting elected though thanks to being members of the Food Stamp party.
EDIT: Oh, and Boston was a pretty damn racist city back in the day. Still is to certain immigrant people.
Scotland hasn't got states.
I suppose this title is an example of why many people dislike America, they think the world is America, and then everyone else.
only extremists would go about hating an entire country, and their hate tends to have little to do with the country in question and a lot to do with their own personal problems
so in essence you shouldn't point fingers at any one state, since any one state isn't to blame
I doubt people in countries like Pakistan, Egypt, or North Korea where the US is really really disliked care about the South's views on race, religion, gay marriage, or evolution.
It took me two days to figure out what you're asking.
California or maybe Texas they don't seem to have the Unions interest like us on the East Coast
I would think the east coast would attempt to keep some form of unity even if they were separate countries but California would become the real Wild West like they always wanted

You mean hating a country for supporting dictators in the name of capitalism who does war-crimes and gets away from it, has personal problems? A lot of people USA because the USA has done a lot of horrible shit.

yeah, i think people who hate the entirety of the united states of america has personal problems. Ignorance being the most prominent aspect of the problem.
the US is intertwined with the rest of the world and has been for the better part of a hundred years, thus accountability isn't at any one place
Its actually a tough question. Because if each state were their own country, there would be other issues. Such as relations with neighboring states. Is one state warlike? (Texas) Is another state claiming resources that other states rely on? There would be annexations, such as Rhode Island. It wouldn't last long and would most likely be annexed.
If each State were their own country, I think the state to fear would be Texas. Maybe Florida. Either way everyone would look at Texas with some trepidation.
the state of ignorance,we all have to look at our selves to understand where hatred comes from
its no use trying to blame it on one specific country or state
@Pinbi7_basic: well basically hatred comes from stereotypes and the media. Some common American stereotypes include that
-Are prudish
-Love guns
-Only eat fast food
-Are racist people
-Love to become police to brutalize others
-Are Arrogant
-Are ignorant about the foreign world
Ok those are some that I can think of.
@lucianocasanova: and are any of those stereotypes true? they'll be true for some and not for others
what i meant is look at yourself(not you your self, but everybody them self...arghh this is getting complicated,im sure you're a good person or you wouldnt ask those kind of questions) before putting the blame on others, singleing out one specific state will just reinforce those stereotypes
