Batman: Begins and The Dark Knight were both dark films but yet still managed to capture the essence of Batman. He managed to reboot the franchise so it didn't seem like another silly superhero yet still 'felt' like Batman and didn't stray too far from the roots.

Now, the Star Wars prequels felt very light hearted, which they shouldn't have been. They felt like not a lot of effort was put into the production and acting in the films.

If you look at the older Batmans, where it was lighthearted and a little silly and then compare it to The Dark Knight then you will see how much of an improvement it was. At least in my opinion.

So do you think if Christopher Nolan was to direct a Star Wars reboot, it would breath new life into the franchise? Imagine a darker film and more thought provoking film. When a Jedi appears it truly is a special thing and not a common occurence where you see about 20 jedi on screen at a time in the prequels.

What do you think? A Dark Knight 'Style' Star Wars film?

Just leave Star Wars alone and get off Nolan's dick. I enjoyed Batman Begins and Dark Knight but just stop it.

Lol, it's my first post regarding Nolan, I thought the films were great and Star Wars could use the same treatment.

I'd rather he focus his efforts on one of his own creations rather than and existing canon.

This. I love Christopher Nolan movies and think he would be better off with his own stand-alone titles. Don't get me wrong, I love Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, but I would much prefer a a thought provoking stand-alone movie like Inception or The Prestige.

I think any competent writer and director could do that. Sure Nolan has done great things with the caped crusader, but I want him turning out more films like Inception and Memento. I know he has his hands on the reboot of Superman and yet another one for Batman.

-

I wouldn't say no to him giving it a go. I know it's all Lucas that's f'n up SW at the moment, if he were to find himself fitted with a pair of cement slippers out on a scuba trip, we would get better SW.

Just leave Star Wars alone. I have no interest in a reboot, even if Nolan is doing it.

Nolan is a better director than Lucas, but don't reboot the series (Star Wars), there are plenty of ideas where he could put his creative skills to good use.

I never really thought of 'Star Wars' as science fiction, but rather fantasy with an outer space backdrop.

I'd agree, but I'd also say that with a critical enough eye, the Star Wars canon makes no sense and is full of inconstencies, even in a fantasy setting.

Growing up nothing was more awesome than 'Star Wars'. I ever carried this love of it with me into adulthood. In my age, however, I have quite gotten over my childhood fascinations.

For me, it seems to invoke the trope Seinfeld is Unfunny. That is, the more something ages and the more you see the same thing over and over, the original work becomes more and more stale and less relevant (unless you have nothing else to compare it to).

Combine that with the aformentioned inconsistencies and poor writing, as well as the jumbled narrratives of the EU, and that's Star Wars for you.

No, screw him.

We should let Nicholas Cage direct and star in a Star Wars movie. After all, he is the Godfather/Apocalypse Now guy's nephew.

... Nolan to my knowledge has never written or directed a full blown science fiction flick to begin with.. Things like Inception were grounded in current day environment.. How do we even know that he would make a good choice?

WTF a Star Wars reboot? What's hollywood coming to. But in all seriousness it wouldn't happen until George Lucas kicks the bucket. I can never see him giving the rights to anyone to remake the SW films. That's one franchise that the big movie companies don't have their teeth into.

The more and more we try and change the Star Wars Saga the worse and worse its going to get. Leave the SW's alone. Please, Revenge of the Sith was bad enough..
