Certain ones, yes. I wouldn't drastically alter my habits, which is what a lot of people assume would happen if drugs were legalized.

If they ever were legalized I would still only use the one and sparingly. I've had worse times and done worse things while drunk.

"Drug" in itself is such a broad term that I am unable to tell what type of drug you are referring to. Pharmaceutical drugs, alcohol, and tobacco are already legal, whereas cannabis and LSD are not. I assume that you are referring to the illegal drugs. Therefore, the following content will be based upon that assumption. Cannabis, if legalized, could help many people and reduce taxes. Several thousands of people go to jail for marijuana possession. While I do not agree with the use of it when not legal, I do believe that the legalization of cannabis should be a primary concern for all of us at this moment. As far as LSD goes, it is one of the least harmful drugs ever. Your chances of addiction to LSD are little to none. Those are the only two drugs which I believe should be decriminalized at the moment. Cocaine, Heroin, Meth, and other illegal drugs are all extremely harmful to both your health and your character.

Seriously? marijuanna has many long-term and short-term health effects. Also, even if it were legalized for recreational use what makes you think that employers would tolerate them?

It's just something I can do without.

Getting a job and being a regular smoker of marijuana isn't hard. If you drink a good amount of water, you can have it out of your system in a week with exercise. The long-term health effects are neglible and is offset in its benefits.

MENTAL HEALTH, BRAIN FUNCTION, AND MEMORY

It has been suggested that marijuana is at the root of many mental disorders, including acute toxic psychosis, panic attacks (one of the very conditions it is being used experimentally to treat), flashbacks, delusions, depersonalization, hallucinations, paranoia, depression, and uncontrollable aggressiveness. Marijuana has long been known to trigger attacks of mental illness, such as bipolar (manic-depressive) psychosis and schizophrenia. This connection with mental illness should make health care providers for terminally ill patients and the patients themselves, who may already be suffering from some form of clinical depression, weigh very carefully the pros and cons of adopting a therapeutic course of marijuana.

In the short term, marijuana use impairs perception, judgment, thinking, memory, and learning; memory defects may persist six weeks after last use. Mental disorders connected with marijuana use merit their own category in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) IV, published by the American Psychiatric Association. These include Cannabis Intoxication (consisting of impaired motor coordination, anxiety, impaired judgment, sensation of slowed time, social withdrawal, and often includes perceptual disturbances; Cannabis Intoxication Delirium (memory deficit, disorientation); Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Delusions; Cannabis Induced Psychotic Disorder, Hallucinations; and Cannabis Induced Anxiety Disorder.

In addition, marijuana use has many indirect effects on health. Its effect on coordination, perception, and judgment means that it causes a number of accidents, vehicular and otherwise.

Why would you put yourself through all that knowing that the consequences have the potential of biting you in the ass later?

Yes, there are many studies linking marijuanna to memory loss. If you smoke that's fine with me, but don't deny the hazards it can cause with "benefits".

As far as the mental disorders go, I'd be willing to bet they were pre-existent, based off of my experience. Look at my dad: Avid weed smoker. Bipolar. Look at me: Never smoked ANYTHING in my life. Bipolar.

Weed really doesn't belong in the list of Schedule I controlled substances, and its placement in said list has been a point of controversy for quite some time. If alcohol is legal, then so too should marijuana be.

Certain individuals are probably more susceptible than others, but I think it's meant to emphasize that it works as a catalyst rather than a generator.
