If i buy a iPhone and unlock it, is that illegal?

and if not whats the easiest way to unlock so it works on T-Mobile?

i have seen videos where they just put in the t-moble sim and it worked (imo) apple should have made it so that it worked with all of the companys

not illegal but will void your warrenty if you brick it. I myself have modded my iphone. Bricking is not much of an issue either because most times it can be reversed

You can...but I'd say it's ill advised. You lose visual voicemail (and I think youtube). You risk the phone getting bricked by an update. Depending on the procedure you follow, you'll lose the warranty.I don't see the point in unlocking since you'll still be stuck with EDGE data unless you're stuck in a contract with TMo or you don't get att coverage.

I don't think so. Unless you sign a contract saying that you won't unlock it, it's yours. You bought it, so you can do with it what you will.
