...and I'm 21, can I still be considered a decent person in society? There are good reasons behind not doing the aforementioned. I basically just like to hang out with friends and have a good time with my music and video games and things like that. I'm friendly to people and help out those in need. I write and play music. I do things with my life; just not a lot of the standard "adult" things most guys my age do.

Honestly, that sounds like a pretty damn good life to me (providing you have a good source of income). :P

People define a person by possessions and its just wrong.

I say if you're happy and are doing what's gonna make you happy I like you.

Eh the college track of life is over rated, if you can be successful without going to college, that's great

I get SSI due to my nervous and emotional conditions and I have thought about going to college and may try to do so but I haven't gotten around to it.

I am sure you are a nice person, but you need to get a life. You are going to be a burdon to your parents. You need to grow with experiences that only work and education will provide for you. Your friends will "grow up" and leave you behind. You wont be able to cope with the real world and become a productive person if you stay at home with mom and dad for too much longer.

That doesn't mean you're not a decent person in society as long as you plan on getting on your feet sometime in the next few years. You're parents might not like supporting you at your age, but if it means they don't have to pay for college I guess its not too bad. :P

I wouldn't say its quite a problem now, but if you are in the same situation 10-15 years from now you should look into broadening your horizons.

Well I mean, there's a point where you should probably stop living off of your parents and support yourself. They won't always be around you know. However, if by some divine miracle you're retired at the age of 21, I am just jealous.

You should start taking small steps towards a career of some sorts. Take a couple college classes to get the feel or start trade school or something.

That pretty much describes me 'cause I only have [community college] classes on Mondays and Wednesdays and I don't even go on some days.

Only I'm 16 so my parents are willing to support me 'till I'm 18.

I had a friend like that once and I must say it gets annoying driving a person around all the time just so the can be apart of the group. Not to mention he never paid for gas money which was just BS. Honestly I think you should get a job somewhere and if you don't plan to go to college I suggest you make it a job that actually pays worthwhile money.

All of this doesn't mean you are a bad person, heck you are probably a decent guy, but you may become a burden on your friends without even realizing it and all of a sudden your friends won't be quite so friendly to you. Also like one other person said real life experiences help you to grow up at the same rate as your friends.

I hate to give advice like I know everything but you should really go to class I have been going to college part time for a while and you have no idea how many people I have seen drop out all of whom coincidentally didn't attend their classes. It's fun having new found freedom when you are out of highschool but don't go abusing it because you will get burned.

I think you should get off your ass and get your driver's license, the go to trucker school. You can make a ton of money as a cross-country driver. Plus it will give the freedom from home, the chance to travel the country, and time to reflect.

I'd love that life...but really you should get a job or go to school someday, if not just for the experience...and learning to drive wouldn't hurt either. You could get more accomplished.

I have tried driving before but I just don't care about driving that much and with my nervous condition I may be more prone to having a wreck or something.

Sounds good... for now, might want to have a plan for the future, just enough so you don't become an indecent person in society.
