track what sites they have visited, and at what time? The reason I ask is because I think there is someone using my computer when I am not around but I have no way to prove it because they clear the URL dropdown list and the internet history. Is there any way around this so that I can still see what sites he has visited and on what day/time?

Are you sure your not visiting dirty websites????? :) :) :)

Try looking on cookies. The way to check them is type cookies into run on the start bar using XP. If you're running vista i don't know!

Check cookies that have been downloaded. They probably haven't wiped them.

He dumped her when he found out.. :?

The TC managed to fool several people with this thread, including you. You should be ashamed of yourself for not seeing right through him.

Of course I read it.
I also read between the lines ...as in he wants to know if people can see where he's been. Subtle sarcasm tastes the best whenit makes you think.

guys stop being so rude to this very very clever man/boy/girl/woman. ill give you some advice.

first of all go on your "educational" websites. all of em. then call your parents/wife/husband and then when youre on the "educational" site show em how much "education" you get they will be very proud and brainwashed and will think those are good sites therefore no needfor clearing historyor hiding it. hope this helps. remember do it as soon as possible and post your results if u can or if ur comp still works

The TC should just admit he's looking at adult websites or other such things on the internet that he doesn't wan't people to know he's been looking at. Just delete your cookies and internet history and i doubt anyone will be able to find out where you've been on the internet. Aswell as this you could just use a password login or if like me your case has a door over the powerbutton with a lock on it, just lock your PC case :P

It's pretty obvious that most of you did not read or understand my original post. If I was the one visiting porn sites, why would I be asking how to check what sites were visited and on what day/time. I would already know this, duh! If you really need me to break it down for you it's like this.

My sister and her husband sometimes have one of their friends sleep over their house. When he sleeps over, he sleeps in the room where they keep their computer. Recently they found downloaded porn on their computer and they suspect it was him that did it, but from what I've been told he's been clearing the history so they can't track where he's been. They want to find a way around this so they can call him out on it.

If you don't believe me, that's your problem, but I have no reason to lie about it.

There's a way, but I have to warn you. What you will find could potentially be much, much worse than porn.

Various security suites will keep track of web use in addition to IP requests. I know McAfee used to, and I'm sure there are some free programs that do as well.

I'm reminded of res, where one of my friends noticed that her boyfriend had been using her computer to look at porn while she slept in the afternoons. He didn't bother to touch the history to cover his tracks.

Yeah, check the cookies or something. There's a folder in the Windows (counting on if you use Windows, here) that saves all cookies and whatnot.

To clear my extra stuff in this computer whether that be cookies, desktop shortcuts, menu shortcuts, etc., I use CCleaner. After all the stuff is deleted, it shows all of the file content in a big list a the total size of the deleted. It's pretty handy, detailed, and efficient. If it's free (this isn't my computer), then it's your best bet to catch them red handed, unless they delete that stuff, too. Deleted Internet History and the URL list doesn't delete the cookies from the system folder...at least not this one (Compaq).
