If the Army ever reinstated the draft...

Lets say hypothetically the Army needed mroe soldiers and they implemented the draft. Would you be willing to go into the Army and defend your country? Or would your morals go against your own country due to being forced to kill someone? Would it be better to just go to jail and live in prison than to take someone else's life?

Well I'm not to worried about that... since I'm Canadian.

No I have no problem with enlisting but that might be because I'm a tad too old to be drafted and I have some rather nasty damage to one of my knees so I'm not physically able to complete a basic training course. If they wanted to make an exception thought and needed me to do some technical or accounting work then I'd be more than happy to comply.

I would go to Canada, but if if the only choices were prison or war, I guess I would go to war....

I would have no problem defending my country on its own soil, but I would not want to fight in someone else' yard. But, I think because I have a brother already in the military, and I am my father's only son and the only son bearing the last name of my father's family, and the fact that I have scoliosis (which is mild since I stay in pretty decent shape) and flat feet & shin splints would make me less than an ideal candidate for the army. If I did before I have kids my family name ends completely.

If my country did that I would just move somewhere else. I'm not american but it doesn't really matter to me, I would never go to war for ANY country.

I don't think I have a lot to worry about.

I'm sort of too old for the military to want me. And besides that, I'm feeling a lot older than I actually am. I'm pretty weak, I get aches and pains, I'm just not suitable for the military.

They wouldn't want me. I wouldn't pass basic training.

I'd answer. I think that most of OT is smart enough to not be put on the front lines. Joining the Engineer Corps, or working for intelligence, wouldn't be that horrible I don't think.

Depends on the reason. I almost signed up for the army, but I don't know enough about the reasoning for the Iraq war to do it. If it was to defend my country though, sure thing. I probably wouldn't need a draft.

I wouldn't fight in any wars. Wars are stupid. I'd rather not risk my life and kill other people at a war. I honestly would rather be in jail than fight in wars, if there was no choice.

I can't tell the difference between a white potato, yellow potato and a green potato. It would be virtually impossible for me to tell the difference between a human and their surrounding environment. I've been told I cannot become an electrician, pilot, firefighter, or join the army because what you see as green I might see as yellow, for example. Add this to my bipolar and ****ed up nervous system I'd be more harm than good in the army

Sure...i would definitely serve...and kill as many people as needed..

I'd rather not, war today is less about heorics and more about being killed by road side bombs, I would do everything in my power not to go, I wouldn't have a problem killing somebody, I'd have a much bigger problem of them killing me to be honest. Somebody could say I'm a coward and I wouldn't disagree, I enjoy being alive more than I do fighting in somebody else's war.Im_single

Isn't drafting the stage at which you don't have the option to go only unless you're physically/mentally unfit or over/under a specific age??? At that stage i wouldn't have the option meaning that i'd have to serve my country whether i wanted to or not.

First of all, no. Second, Engineers are attached to front-line infantry all the time.

No need to be cryptic here, what i'm saying is you give me training, you give me a gun, you force me to do this, you force me to be loyal. Soon as i'm out on a mission I WILL shoot my own team in the back and then take my freedom they stole from me. I won't care less who wins or who bombs what.

My country's not at war and I'm too young to get drafted....

Not a chance. I already tried willingly to join the army and was denied because of my ankle condition. If they can't accept me when I am willing and then would want me later, I will give them the bird and go live in Canada or France. In the last 5 years, I have lost faith in this country due to the extreme amounts of corruption and fraud at the political, military, and corporate levels now that I actually think for myself.

Yes, I'd go, and I'd make lots of friends in the military and eventually stage a Coup d'état and take over the government and implement and entirely socialistic regime.
