If you could conduct...

..a sociology experiment, what would it be?

If you don't know what a sociology experiement is, it's basically an experiment to see how people react to certain situations that against social norms. Or at least that's what I think it is.

For example, a couple years ago my friends and I did one where we would go into elevator with other people we didn't know and one of us would go to the front and just turn around and face the other people. To go even further into the experiement, we had whoever was turned around smile while turned around. It was hilarious to see the reactions of the people.

So what sort of crazy experiments would you conduct?

There was this one experiment where this guy dragged a little girl down the street as she was yelling "stop, you're not my daddy!". They walked right by people in business suites and everything. No one did anything. Finally these two black guys who had just come out of a shopping mall threw down their bags and chased him. All those other people didn't do a thing.

I'd do something like that just to see if that was just a bad scenerio.

Kidnap a man and his wife. Tell the man that in order to survive he must kill his wife with a pistol (which you then hand him) or instead kill himself.

The gun is loaded with blanks. I would record the decision the man makes. I'd imagine those who went through with attempting to kill their wife would have to go through a bitter divorce afterwords.

Interesting thread.

This has probably been done before, but I think that I would conduct an experiment in which someone was asked questions by a person with certain characteristics (like being attractive) and then asked the same questions later by someone else that had different characteristics (like not being attractive).

It would be interesting to see how the responses differed.

That's not crazy or anything, but it's something I would be interested in studying.
