I´ll teach you how to get a good band name

1.- turn on history channel/discovery channel/national geographic or some cultural channel

2.- watch a show or a few shows if possible

3.- use any unusual word/words that have some cool meaning

4.-use the word or words you chose as your band´s name

some examples of this are REM and nirvana

me and my friends almost started a band a few months ago that never really left the planning stages. I came up with the name "Horseshoes and Handgrenades", having the idea that one you throw in war because of anger, and one you throw for fun. Then i found out greenday had a song of the same title. that pissed me off so much :evil:

In my last year of high school I joined my friends thrash metal band as the singer. We were called Prymal Rage. I'm not a huge metal fan, but they were looking for a new singer and seemed sure that I'd fit the part well.

That band broke apart in October when everyone moved.

Ideally I'd join a symphonic prog band, reminiscent of YES or Gentle Giant. I can currently play baritone saxophone and sing, and I'm planning to learn bass guitar this summer. Wouldn't know what to call a prog band though. I'd need to improve my musicianship and theory knowledge as well though.

We would be an alternative rock band, called Desolate Lights, and I would probably play lead guitar

I have no idea what my band would be called but ideally I would want the bluesy feel of 70's hard rock, the spirit and attitude of early punk, and the authenticity of grunge. I'd probably push to use the Pixies loud/quiet dynamic too. I'd play drums, guitar, or keyboards.

That would be an electro-punk band. A guitarist, a girl with a cool voice on synths and drum machines

- Forêt Noire

Kind of dark pop à la Xiu Xiu, but with a prominence of acoustic guitars. I'd need a male singer, at least two guitarists, some synths and a drummer.

- The Waitbehinders

I don't know what to make of this one, I thought it just sounded cool, in a 80s alternative rock kind of way...
