He thinks it will be hard work? Of course it will! But you work hard for the people you love.
It sort of depends on what level of retardation, though, and what medical problems he has, and what his abilities are.
I'd probably be unable to manage, so yeah some sort of home would be the answer. Although I'd visit regularly, they would be my sibling, after all.Bourbons3
What he said
I would look after him for some time, but then I wouldn't be able to manage financially on my own so I'd have no choice but to put him in a nursing home.
It depends on how retarded he is. My mom's brother was mentally retarded, to a point where he couldn't do anything himself. He had to wear diapers, he had to be fed by someone else, and he couldn't hold things right. If he was like that, unless I had help from somebody else, I'd probably put him in a home where he could get better care, but I'd still visit him a lot.
My dad's brother, he's not really retarded, but you can tell there's something wrong with him. I think he got really sick when he was a kid and didn't make a full recovery, I dunno. But if he was like my uncle, then I would let him live with me. My uncle lives with my aunt now, and she has to drive him everywhere because he can't drive, but she doesn't have to worry about him as much.
I have a younger one and I'd take care of him. it would be hard work, but then again I have a few relatives who wouldn't mind.
depends on how he is. I'd feel bad if he got hurt cause I wasn't watching him, and watching him 24/7 might be a bit too much for me.
There's also the idea of how easy it is to get along with my brother. Just like everybody else some handicap people are easy to get along with and take "orders" really well, and others are really stubborn and fight you every step of the way. I really couldn't handle taking care of such a stubborn person all the time, and though I may love him, it would be the best for me to put him in a home.
