If you were given $1 billion just to help people get out of gangs.

Okay you were given $1 billion dollars to keep, but you'll be moving to the toughest hoods in South Central with a group of activists and ex-gang members to teach kids not to join gangs. Would you do it? I would immediately sign up for it and will be happily helping people in the hoods. I just love to see people being happy.

But let me predict, most of you won't and think I'm stupid, but hey, I feel fine.

They will just end up back in the gangs. You tell kids not to join gangs and they have these dumb ass ideas in their heads. Like you're straling their thunder or something. People who join gangs are just belligerent fools.

A billion alone probably wouldn't even make a dent.

Noble idea, but the gang problem in the US can't just be solved with money at this point.

There needs to be education reform, better job training, and more job opportunities are things that would be extremely beneficial.

Sure, I have done some community stuff in West Baltimore with my church before without getting paid anything. Last time we went, two friends of mine got robbed, so it would be nice to actually get some money rather than lose it. Of course, they are fat white kids so it's not hard to see why they were targeted.

Ever since I entered the "Scott's Tots" program, I have hope for the future and know that joining a gang isn't cool. Can't wait till graduate high school, free college is going to be awesome!

Why not? For a billion dollars, I'd pretty much do anything that wasn't illegal and/or against my religious beliefs.

You can't teach kids not to join gangs. It just makes them more curious given their lives are impoverished and they've got nothing to do if they don't go into the criminal world.
