If your parents have no problem with it, I don't see the problem with staying home.

If you're 19, you're still a kid. Live it up. I'm 30 and am still a kid. Unfortunately, my Mortgage, Utility Bills, Health Insurance, Car Payment, Car Insurance, and Fiance say different...

As long as you're not just living with them to mooch off them or delay adulthood it's not a big deal. I lived with my parents until my mid-20s. I had no reason to move out, and they were happy to have me around. And while I was living with them I pitched in towards the household expenses.

Move to a country where people aren't expected to leave home the moment they turn 18. Srsly, making this thread in Australia almost everyone would say "So what?" unless living at home was insufferable for you.

And? I lived with my parents till I was 23. Was great. No rent. Lived in a house rather than tiny dorm with four idiot roommates. One roommate could cook. My dad was a killer wingman. He could pull anybody.

I live alone but the only reason for that is that I don't really have a good relationship with my mom so I just left. She said it was okay for me to stay along with my dad but I just left. But sometimes she asks me to visit and I come to see my siblings every once in awhile.

And? I'm 19 and live with my folks, I contribute to the income though and work around the house. I don't have any plans to move out until I finish my degree and can get a decent job (23- 24ish)

Their totally cool so it works. Dorms absolutely suck from what I've seen of them and I'd rather not pay out $900 for some tiny studio apartment in NY

While i would like to move out , you're not alone here . I do look on the plus side though while i don't have enough money to move out , i save enough cash to pay off my tuition and books by myself .

I'm currently 19 years old and have to resort to living with my parents because the military college I went to gave me an involuntary medical discharge and I have been struggling with finding employment so I have to to take evening classes as a non-degree seeking student until either next fall or next semester... Trust me, you're not alone

19 isn't really a bad age to still be living with your parents, especially in these difficult economic times.

cheer up bro.

i lived with my parents till i was 26 and got married. my wife lived with her parent right up until we got married too. as long as you are saving money and not goofing off too much i think living with your parents longer than normal can be a good idea. i was able to save up a ton of money to put a down payment on a house.

Please, I'm 23 and still living with my mom because I can't find a job in this economy (not really any jobs in my field at the moment and when it comes to low paying retail jobs and such I'm too overqualified to be "competitive" for those). All of my friends still live with their parents too (except for one who lives with her boyfriend), and all of us have pretty impressive education backgrounds and work histories. The whole idea that you should be moved out of the house and completely independent starting right at 18 is an outdated one no longer compatible with the reality of modern life. Even if the economy wasn't **** right now, the fact still remains that annual income for the bottom 99% of Americans hasn't changed at all in the 30-40 years when adjusted inflation while the cost for housing has. And then you factor in student loans which a lot of people have these days (which are also far bigger than anything your parents would have had because the rise in the cost of college tuition has far exceeded the rate of inflation) and you've also got a bigger financial burden to start out with than your parents did. So basically when your parents were 18 it actually wasn't terribly hard to move out and at least get a crappy apartment even on a minimum wage job. Now, however, even a crappy apartment will run you at least $400-$600/month, not even including utilities and internet, cable, and phone services (and by "crappy" I mean "crime ridden area with a high probability of some kind of pest infestation").

I'm 23 and I still live with my parents  I'm going for another degree and I'm still working so I don't feel bad at all. In fact, I'm grateful. As long as I'm out of here before my late 20s. You don't anything to feel bad about.

Living on your own can end fairly expensive this early in life, im also living with my mother and i'm glad i do, i'm glad to have a place to sleep rather than struggling to make it on my own in my own appartment.

I ditched my parents right after high school was over and moved in with my grandma instead. She's okay with me living rent free since I'm going to school, plus it helps that I'm her favorite grandchild too. I'd love to live on my own, but that's impossible at my age since I don't have enough income as it is.

19 or 23 and something are still young, it's ok to live with parents... as long as there aren't 7 family members live in a 3 bedroom house. too crowded.

^ this. I'm home, and plan to be for a few more years, I'm 21 now and commute to college. Saves big $$$ this way, and I can't stand dorm life.

I moved out when I was 20.

Living with my parents would actually be a more logical move for me as not only does it make things easier for me in my curent situation, it's also nearer to the drop zone. The issue is that my parents are too nice and I worry that I would end up mooching off them. I feel I'd be taking a massive step back if I moved in. But it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Also 19 and live with my Mother and Younger brother. I have no desire to move out since I'm actually close with my mum an brother and am not in a financial position to leave either. Way I see it is stay until you're ready to leave.

I lived at home til I was 22. Was pretty awesome, sometimes when I come home and there's all sorts of crappy housework to do I think back to those times. Makes you about 500% more grateful to your parents than you ever were.

That's not even all that much of a problem, unless your parents are super-strict/overly protective.
