yea i definitely agree....most christians out there are giving us a bad name, but at the same time it's foolish for people to stereotype all christians this way (as homophobes, critical of other religions etc.)

I totally agree. I am a christian too i guess, but i dont go to church all the time (or anytime for that matter) I dont like poeple who try to enforce their religion onto others, and hell, most wars are based on religion themselves. Take WW2. Yes, germany was taking over other countries, but they also were killing jews-even jews who were german and had lived in germany forever! I mean crap, the only difference between jews and christians is that jews dont believe that jesus was the son of god0 THATS IT! Thats whyI dont believe in hell. Why? Because even the freakin bible says that earth is just like heaven. Well, thats not gonna be fun.

Actually WW2 wasnt for religion at all. Even from Hitlers perspective. It was a war for Land Power, a war of opportunity (Let the commies die) and there are several reasons the US got involved - Retaliation against Japan, and D-Day was to prevent Russia from grabbing TOO much land during their fight against germany.

Hitler slaughtered the jews from a purification standpoint, he was killing others as well. He used the Jews as a scapegoat, not because he really had something against their religion but because it was the easy thing to do. If everyone was an athiest he would have just slaughtered all the non-whites or everyone of a certain nationality.

Yea, there are some weirdos. Unfortunately, the ones that are pretty much Ned Flanders and Stephen Colbert mushed into one are usually very vocal, meaning they'll speak a lot of crap like "God wrote the Bible" and "evolution and God can't agree". They can, it's just that the vocal Christians like to have everything. You can't have God be loving AND all powerful. Either he's evil or there's stuff he can't control.

Actually, if you read any part of the bible, there is stuff he chooses not to control. Life is a test and an excercise of our free will. Quite essentially what is life if we have no choice in our destiny. And here in this universe, is a test to see if humanity through all the trials and tribulations, the evils and the good's, can use their free will to do more good than Evil with the guidance god gave us in the beginnings of our civilizations. Will our species thrive and prosper for millions of years, or will we end it all with 3 signatures and the pushing of a red button?

apparently, religion has become a business in america and some other countries. it's easy to create a religion and have followers, provided that, well, you have stupid people to follow you. but im not saying this about religion in general.

Its really annoying right.... i am christian, i dont really go to church too often, but a couple times per year. Anyway, there are SO MANY CHRISTIANS WHICH ARE REALLY WIERD!!!!! i don't mind telling a joke about christ and stuff, or people taking the piss because they're not religious, i mean its their opinion not mine.

But all the time i think Aethist views on religious people is distorted by WIERDO's who advertise their religion all the time.... Like this girl i know, who told off a friend for making a "fake" prayer about something (which was quite funny at the time) and it was really embarrassing. and people were like "wierdo christian"

anyone else out there agree with me?

Stumpt25

as a christian i agree. at my church many kids smell and if they went to my school they would easily be mistaken for homosexuals.

One thing that really annoys me when they interpret their first ammendment about that is the fact that they leave out the "The right to swing my fist ends where the other person's nose begins". They always pressure us to join join join. It's annoying and in some cases intimidating. They should just rely on inviting friends to their church instead of sending strangers to advertise something that can potentially change our entire lifestyle.

I got to a catholic school so everyone is Christian...and not one of them are like what people think we're like "zomg evolution is wrong, it was god who made us" and all that... well I don't know a single person who is like that. I havn't been to church in years and neither has any of my mates. So maybe in some areas christians are very religious and go to church and carry a bible  but it's nothing like that around here.

I do agree that there are strange Christians but are you getting people who love the Lord a lot more than u confused with people being straange. Seeing someone as weird is all in the eye of the beholder. If u say someone who sings hymns and prays to God every night as weird then i think u have a very wrong perception of what a Christian should be. i'm not saying your doing this but if thats what anyone thinks then they don't know what a Christian should be.

Hitler wasn't killing Jews for their religion, it was for their race. There's a difference between the Jewish race and Judaism as a religion. Some christians and churches in Europe converted Jews to save them from the Holocaust but they were taken anyway.

And back to the main topic, I sorta agree. I know people at my school that push it way too much and make a fool of the majority of Christians but I think even more don't do enough.

If you were a true christian you would except everyone for what they are and not judge the 'Wierdoes' out there. Most christians dont even follow the teachings of Christ.

I agree with you to an extent, but what you need to realize is that in the Christian religion, God must be treated and talked about with respect at all times. It isn't something to be joked about, there are lots of things to joke about, and it's too bad that Christianity is the subject of so many jokes. I'm not real stiff on it, i watch south park, family guy, and shows like that which totally rip non christianity, because i think it's hilarious. But Christians are not supposed to ever treat God with disrespect. Christians are supposed to try andbe just like Christ and get others to live for Christ, and making jokes and things like thatisn't going to get that accomplished. But that still won't stop me from watching South Park!

Part of the problem is the lack of responsibility practioners have in regards to making an account for their actions. At it's core, fundamentalists are the ones who practice their religions the closest to what is described, hence the term 'fundamentalist'. The moderate majority however, enables this sort of fundamentalism by trying to disassociate themselves from the fundamentalists in the idea that what they are doing is not representative of the religion.

That's untrue. These are precisely the people who know what they're doing and talking about. They not only know the Quran/Bible like their ABC's, they can justify their actions with 'holy' verses no matter how small against the general ignorance of the moderate majority.

That's not to say that one cannot be Christian, but in order to ensure that your practices are not inhuman and ultimately enabling fundamentalists, you have to start reconciling what is to what you want it to be. Tossing out the Old Testament would be a big start, as would the Book of Matthew and the Book of Revelations. At the end of the day, with some borrowing from other works and some smart re-writing of scripture, it's not impossible to cull a Christian belief system that does not advocate misanthropy.

I dont think it is most Christians, but I understand what you are saying. The problem with that isnot our businessto judge others. So what is the point of being offended because of your judgement? The point is to lead by example and attract people tothe peace in our lives, and why we are this way. That is not leading by example, it is self proclaimed rightness, and it is a turn off. It took me 28 years before I became a Christian because of the same problems.
