I'm a girl and I didn't much care for it, the only thing that really got me was the end, what happened to Jake Gyllenhal's character....other than that I didn't find it that spectacular...there are far better movies dealing with that topic, it just got recognition because of the actors.

You heard me. My wife rented it tonight and forced me to watch it. I was incredibly apprehensive because I typically hate chick flicks, and much more so when there really aren't any chicks in it. Suffice to say, WOW. Although a couple scenes did make me uncomfortable, I actually like that they just kind of threw them at you and got them over with. Dude, there is nothing wrong with a guy liking that movie.

I hate the movie not because it has gay stuff in it, I hate the movie because it has NOTHING but gay stuff. The plot is shallow, the dialogue is about a paragraph long the whole movie.

Some movies are depressing because its relevant to the plot...Brokeback is depressing for the sake of making you sad. If I wanted to be sad I would provoke my mom and have her call me a fat, worthless, sack of ****.

In other words, its a pointless movie.

I still don't quite understand the praise it got at the time - well, maybe I do. It's got the controversy surrounding it.

By all accounts it's really nothing more than your average, drawn out romance, except it features dudes. That's it. Also, the little stunt they pulled near the end of the movie with one of the characters was pretty lame. Yeah, we get it. He's GAY Whoopie.
