They were knocking on my door, trying to get me to join there church, I told them no, im too busy on Sundays, then they wanted to talk to me about the bible. I say sure. they speak about the bible, and then one lady says "you know the jews? God cursed them long ago and you know what? the curse killed 6 million jews back in the 40's" and then some background story on the curse.

Im pretty sure that the Nazis killed the jews, if im correct. Why do they keep using these real life events and say god did it?

A majority of my experiences with Christians is that they are generally nice people. I've had them talk to me in street before and they seem normal. Not all of them are like the phelps family you know...

I guess you can't blame them for being deluded

They honestly believe that you're going to burn in hell for all eternity if you don't follow their path.

In their view, they are trying to "save" you.

They are damn annoying though, no matter how good they think their intentions are.

Similar problem here. I have a church that is located 5 hours up the street from me. I'm an atheist. You do the "math" :P. I don't know many (if any) people who have openly mentioned their Christianity in one way or another and isn't crazy.

In the subway, a bunch of Mormon tried to make me join their religion and their arguments were quite funny, like: "The white race were the first to colonized the new world (america) back in Jesus time" and "if you become a mormon, you will become happy and you will be able to give the oppurtinity to your family to become perfect"

I told them that I was happy without a God to worship and they would not leave me, until I called the security guard :\

Mormons are so racist lol, they wouldn't even let blacks become priests until the 70's. They think that God cursed Cain with black skin for killing Abel, and that's where blacks come from

If they weren't so crazy, I'd think about going to their services for some good laughs.

Ye they are pretty racist tbh, there is no need for it.

There is a catholic school near me and one girl was told she couldnt wear her cross around her neck, and the reason they gave, was because there was a muslim pupil and it could offend her? How ridiculus is that! a muslim goes to another religious school requesting pupils to not display their faith, but can you ask a muslim pupil not to display there own faith in necklaces or w/e. No.

I think religion causes more problems than good, so all religions should be banned or convert to one religion....

Yeah of course you can :) Basically I was born and raised on the concept fo Karma, What goes around comes around, and religion was never forced in to me. My parents always allowed me and my brother to out personal opinions. A long time my family suffered. Money, homeslessness (not me, but my mum's family were homeless for years before she was born), depression and generally let down by society. My family have always held their heads high and continued to be nice to people no matter what happened or what people have done. It's payed off. My mum is in a secure job, we have a lovelly little flat on an council estate and we have a great family unit. Being nice and positive to people has payed off.

Yeah it can all be put down to chance/coincedence, but it is my personal opinion and belief that Karma, being good gets you treaded good, turned out life around. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and beliefs.

This also has a lot to do with politics and politcal correctness, something that is tearing the UK apart, as well as much of the world right now. It is offensive to be a majority these days.

I believe in Karma.. What goes around comes around for me. What I was explaining is that being nice, even through the troubles we had, got people to be nice to us in the end. The evil get their commupence... Adolf Hitler Saddam Hussain... etc.

Well I wouldn't have a problem with religion if it didn't cause problems to people who aren't religious. That is why I think they are bad...

And yea I think the UK is in a bad state at the moment in most areas, economics, politics, religion.... But I think in maybe 40 years the UK religion will be made up of 60% muslims and 40% other religions. Which will cause more problems because muslims will want more laws to go in favor of them... which will create more problems. I know I have a negative view of things but hopefully I am wrong and religion will do more good than bad stuff :)

Eventually people will not stand for the Muslim takeover. I think it will all go to pot for them. Honestly though, whether or not this country changes, I am moving my family to Australia as soon as I have the money, a place where they don't stand for Political Correctness abuse or people trying to force a religion upon them

Dude, that's what multiculturalism brings. I have no problem with bigotry or racism, but you can't claim to be tolerant of other cultures while being intolerant of other cultures. What's tearing the UK apart is multiculturalism.

You are on the right track though, a homogenous society doesn't have anywhere near the problems of a multicultural one.

Yes, some Christians do go quite too far. I am a baptist christian. As a child I went to private school, grew up in church, the whole nine yards. But even I can not stand some Christians.

For instance, I am not an avid church goer. I believe my faith is pretty unshakable, plus, I am a generally good person. I often go out of my way to help people, be polite, generous, etc.

What gives someone who is selfish, rude, self-centered, but attends church every Sunday the right to judge me because I do not like sitting in church for 3-4 hours (Baptist church services can go all day......seriously) or because I am not going to wear a suit to church. God does not care how I dress, Adam and Eve were nude in the garden of Eden, that did not bother him. Why would shorts piss him off?

Maybe it not just christians. People are judgemental naturally, but when you use God to justify being judgemental, and puttign others its so much worse.

I met a lot of awesome people this summer who just so happened to be Christian. Many of them expressed disdain for the evangelical influence in politics and members of their religion who try to shove it off on others. I really respected that. Religion should be a personal, introspective thing.

Thank you, thats how I see it. My relationship with my religion is my own business, as it shoudl be for every other person.

But I think that people whould respect people of other religions. One of my good friends is a Jehovah's Witness, I seriously try to understand what they believe. Some of it is left field for me, while some of it makes sense.

Their job is basically door-to-door salesmen. They're going to need something pretty hard hitting to grab your attention and make you think about it. Lo and behold they've done it.

But yeah, I agree that using a tragedy to scaremonger people into believing anything is wrong.

Fortunately I haven't come across people like that. I think only Jehova's Witnesses are required to do door-to-door stuff. Mormons have a history of doing that but I don't know if they have to spread their religion like that.
