I'm a 20-year old college art (drawing) student and a dishwasher at a local restaraunt.

I'm considering running for the North Dakota Representative (we get ONE and only ONE) in 2012, I'll be 24 during the election day and will turn 25 only a month later, which is the minimum age to take office (25). I'll probably run against the incumbent Earl Pommeroy who wins every time.

My platform includes legalizing marijuana for those 18 and older in private homes, but not while driving or at school, and this includes legalization for those who need its medicinal properties.

I would also like to work to repeal the Patriot Act, as it infringes on our Constitutional privacy and gives the government too many "eyes" over its citizens.

Since it's North Dakota, there's tons of wind blowing over the prairie, so I would exploit the wind for its energy potential.

I would work to legalize civil unions between couples of any sex.

I would fight to make abortion a state issue instead of a national one. Let the states decide.

I would work to get more meth education in the North Dakota schools, because meth is a big problem in the midwest.

Also, I would work for the separation of church and state.

I would fight irresponsible spending and work to lower the national debt.

So, what do you all think? Would you vote for me if you were in my state? Any thoughts? :D

I don't think your platform is one that will win in ND.

Pommeroy is going to have to forget to run (along with any other options) in order for you to win that race.

Why is that crazy? Even if you disagree, it's still a valid issue. It will probably be legal eventually, in my state alone it gets more and more votes every year. Last year it got about 45% vote in favor for legalization.

I'd vote for you based on your positions on the issues. That being said, you've got a lot of work to do in order to win the vote of the average North Dakotan. It's a pretty conservative state as I'm sure you know.

Explain how you plan to do these things. Also we already have separation of church and state. Having a religious symbol on government property is not unconstitutional. Having the Vatican run the country is.

I really dont think that you know what you are talking about. North Dakota is filled with elderly conservative farmers. You are not even going to be taken seriously with the legalizing marijuana thing. Also, state decisions on abortion is completely absurd. These people aren't going to even listen to you man. Another thing, you dont have to work for separation of church and state its pretty much already separated with the exception of a few obscure christians who think it shouldnt be separated.

Hey, thanks for all the feedback, guys.

The thing is I'm a really charasmatic, charming dude, and I know it's stupid to say this, but I am good-looking. I mean, I seriously am. I look good with a shaved head, I have a nice smile and a nice laugh, and I'm tall and medium-sized. For real. :| I hope to be frank with my issues like legalization of marijuana to hopefully attract a cult fanbase, much like Ron Paul does, plus, four years is plenty of time to build up.

When I make decisions about how to vote or what side to fight for, I will ask myself "What is fair?" Asking that puts oneself in many different shoes to look at an issue before one decides how to vote on it.

Farming is also very important in North Dakota, so legislation that will help the farmers and the farming industry will be of major priority in my leadership and representation.

Also, you will be way too young. People arent going to care if you are 24 and 3 quarters and that your berfday is coming up. They want an experienced individual that will be at least 5 years older than the minimum age ON ELECTION DAY.

So can I have a union with an animal? If not how come? Your being discriminatory to my sex prefrences. Who are you to say I cant have sex with animals? Your being hateful.

My advice for you is to stay out of politics. I would not vote for you, and just so everyone knows, I was joking on the above statment. But I would like to know how you would answer that, I mean really?

Except ALL the reps for ND are farmer friendly, so all that stands out is charm, and that most every voter in ND will not like your policies.

I suggest moving.

To all the people doubting you: screw em'. They can sit on their arses and laugh, but at least you're going out and trying to change something. Now, it's highly unlikely you'll win, but everyone has to start somewhere. At least you can appeal to the "common man". Good luck to you.

I really dont think that you know what you are talking about. North Dakota is filled with elderly conservative farmers. You are not even going to be taken seriously with the legalizing marijuana thing. Also, state decisions on abortion is completely absurd. These people aren't going to even listen to you man. Another thing, you dont have to work for separation of church and state its pretty much already separated with the exception of a few obscure christians who think it shouldnt be separated.moptopskate

Good way to stereotype a whole group of people. I do not agree with a lot of his issues, and I do not live in ND, but to say that everybody who lives there is ultra conservative and old is just plain idiotic.

Although Ron Paul did have a cult fanbase. That doesnt get him anywhere when all of his "fanbase" are walking into the voting polls half baked. Older people run this country! moptopskate

I think the problem is that he is associated with a party that despite being on the same side of the political spectrum has NO intention of EVER doing anything that Paul wants to do.
