Calm down there.

He was getting all bent out of shape for no reason.
He was being proportionally calm in response to your spectacularly judgmental statement, IMO.Is current popular music from elsewhere great?[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]

OK sorry guys that didnt come out right at all. If i said CURRENT POPULAR MUSIC IN AMERICA IS NOT VERY GREAT would that be better? lol. my apologies.

Well quality of music is all up to one's opinion, and I personaly like a lot of the rock bands from the UK (placebo, muse....) But this Soulja Boy stuff that plays every day on the radios here, its just bad.
My first post was a little too general. I like some american artists like the kilers, audrye sessions, the whute stripes, incubus, carolina liar, interpol.
Good and bad in every country....whats listening to the same music have to do with listening to bad music? some music is worthy of repeated listenings.
I only listen to metal, which is underrated by the mainstream (and let's keep it that way).MrPraline
yeah we all know what happened last time it was mainstream, prefer not to repeat that
[QUOTE="JSDempsey"]but when i said it sucks, thats the kind of music i was referring to. I guess i never really consider the bands i like to be mainstream.BiancaDK
Music is music =) mainstream or not, it´s personal preferences - just like you said yourself.
Judging music and including the argument of something being mainstream is really besides the point when it comes to the aesthetical quality of it.
Well i was just expressing my opinion on what i considered to be popular music in america today. I know i could have worded it better but whatever. Im just a little aggressive with it because ive gone half insane from being forced to hear the same songs over and over again every day by all the people around me.
Didnt mean any offense to anyone, as a said earlier, there are plenty of good american artists, but they are not appreciated enough for their talent.

Good and bad in every country....indeed.....
They can listen to what they want. I listen to pretty much everything anyway, and can find something I like in all kinds of music, so I'm pretty respectful of peoples music tastes.
SSJ_Nega
well ofcourse they can, doesnt mean i have to like it. I dont see why people get so upset by my opinion on music, it really isnt that important of a subject.

I don´t think anyone got offended, just slightly puzzled as to why you would make such a sweeping generalization. =)
Anyways, good night! =)
Why are there so many metalheads on gamespot? No one here listen to the blackeyed peas?MemberinoDon't worry, I do. :D And, on that note, I don't really care what people listen to. Sometimes I will listen to the music my friends love, it doesn't matter to me. I do like to experiment with other genres.
The stuff I listen to is underrated. Check out my myspace (link in sig) for the music I listen to and I can almost guarantee that you haven't heard of most of the bands on my page,
thats what I was going to say. Honestly OT is very much about condemning anybody who has different tastes in music as their own. Variety is a good thing people.Oh wow, people have different tastes in music than you :o

Top 40 music is not my cup of tea but I listen to everything from whatever is hot to whatever underground delicacies music elitists love to ramble on about. As far as music I actually buy goes it's mostly rock or hip hop (sub genres of course included) that vary from very popular to "only if you dig a bit deeper" types of bands.
Your kidding right? It honestly disturbs you that a great majority of people can like a single particular song because it sounds good to them that you just so happen not to like. And its because of these irreconcilable differences that you should complain about what they listen to and label thier preferences? I mean come on. The whole idea of subjectivity cannot be THAT foriegn to you.I'm going to post a link that shows some of what people keep buying from the most over rated artists in the world, I don't know why a hand full of people like me can't aquire music that sounds good and is not the same old repetitive thing. Anyway, what kind of music do you buy, is it mainstream or under rated(90% of my stuff is)stuff?

I listen to my music over and over again. I don't care about what other people listen to. It's their choice.t3hrubikscubeSame here. I don't care what everyone else listens to. Hell, Nickelback sold millions of records. I'm convinced a band humming Bach while playing banjos can find fans.
I'm disappointed in myself, I listen to the same songs constantly, but I do add one or two new ones to my library just about every week.69ANT69
I'm the same, but I'm not disappointed in myself. I like the music that I listen to and that's all that really matters. :?
idk better songs are always the ones that take more than one listen to appreciate
I go for whats good to me. that just happens to be mainly stuff that is largely unheard of, but i do also enjoy some popular stuff too, like Tears for Fears
i am currently enjoying metal at the moment though. especially ayreon, opeth, dream theater, and others. before that though, i listened to stuff like Massive Attack, Juno Reactor, and other electronic(which i dont like anymore, except for massive attack)
