Immortal Technique is a rapper who trys to sound like he is smart in ever song. Every song he comes out with he talks about some conspiracy or some political crap. If i wanted to hear about this ill go to wikipedia or watch the history channel. He needs to stop with the gimmicky crap. Lol @ this dude trying to sound smart and educated in every song and has probably not even graduated high school. Anyone else not feeling him?

i've only heard two songs from him and he's alright. A lot of rap I've heard( in just trying to expand genres) talks about politics and it's just stupid. I hate tangible things or events being pulled into music.

Listen to You Never Know and Dance With The Devil, those two are far from being about politics and conspiracy theories.

yeh his lyrics can get really annoying jsut because theres no variety, reminds me of Sage Francis. With btoh of these rappers they rap bout the same stuff and i can't stand there voice or flow. lyrics are pretty good but then you gotta sort throguh alot of crap.

In the overall scope of rap he is underrated because his name is still pretty unknown to the general public. But he is overrated on the internet if that makes sense.

His rapping style gets boring after awhile. He either uses some kind of ridiculous extended-metaphor, or a rant about how white people screwed him over and the Government hates minorities.

I think his thinking is fine, he just needs to become more educated on the crap he's rapping about.

He's overrated on the internet for sure.

I like him, but he's a one trick pony. He's usually spouting off about racism or politics and don't even get me started on his theories.

I like his music but he's overrated and there are much better underground rappers.

It's not that he is political, it's that that's 95% of what he raps about. He needs to switch up his subject matter a little better.

LOL who said that? All I'm saying is he needs to talk about more than politics in over 80% of his songs. Keep his music fresh. He should do more Dance With The Devil or Peruvian Cocaine type tracks, rather than tracks like Bin Laden. The theories get tiresome after awhile.

This is just a guess, but in that "Dance with the Devil" song, did he sample the 70's movie "Love Story"? That takes balls.

I listened to the song, but it's not really my cup of tea.

yes, after listening to his music for a while, the theories do get boring. i agree that he needs to change up his subjects a bit. Kinda funny how hes a political rapper, yet, his best songs have nothing to do with politics.

I think hes got alot of talent as a lyricist but Im with everyone else in that he needs to change up some off the themes he talks about because he is socially aware and more intelliagent then your average artist even if the stuff he talks about may be over his head.

Overall id say I love him when im in the mood for that style of rap but alot of his songs do blend together too much even though he does have some great songs.

Sorry if this is an old topic or whatever but I have to get this off my chest:

It really angers me when you guys say that Tech is rapping about stuff over his head. Have you ever heard him speak or read an interview of him outside of his music? He is clearly very intellectual and knows what he's talking about. In one interview he talks for minutes off the top of his head about the 4th crusade. His content is definately not over his head. Additionally, his lyrical content is by far one of the best out there, just because his rhymes and metaphors aren't simple and commercial like other rap and hip hop artists doesn't make it bad.

To be unbiased, his content does get 1 dimensional. However, isn't almost every other rapper's content 1 dimensional? Money, cars, and **** At least Tech's is socially concious. I can't wait for him to finally release The Middle Passage and Volume 3 because although the 3rd World was more mainstream because of Green Lantern it was definately more diversified than Vol 1 and 2 (The 3rd World was released after the discussion in this thread).

YES! All he barely raps, he talks, and if it's not political or conspiracy he will talk about putting a bullet hole in your mom and use it...for things that are just terrible. He is annoying...a lot more rappers out there who are lyrical and can actually flow..

EDIT: damn necros...always rezzing threads :/

Of course he's much better than the average rapper, but he is defintiely biased in his political views(and he's a communist/socialist(not sure which) at heart(not that that's that bad)). He acts like he's really wise and what he says is so true. Like when he predicted Obama would be a token loser if he ran for president. Not that I don't like him, I have his entire discogrophy.

Well of course he's biased, any political rapper is, right? So I guess you don't like political rap, which is fine.

The thing is though, that some people Tech too seriously. I don't have any quotes, but he's had lyrics that poke fun at the people who take him word for word - it's one man's viewpoints. His views spark controversy and raise questions which is exciting to see because many other artists don't do this.

However, if no matter how much you can hate him because of his views or whatnot, he means good. Sure he raps violently, but he's not a violent person at all - any fan would know this. His recent "Green Light Project" and his teaming up with Omeid (?) solidified my views on Tech.

If you don't know what the GLP / Omeid is, well Tech donated thousands of his own $ towards starting an orphanage in war torn Afghanistan. Tech came out of prison with $74.01 to his name, never signed a major record deal and is now donating thousands of his own hard earned money for a greater good. I just can't say enough about that.

I agree he is overrated. I mean, many of my friends who are rockers barely knows rap but found him as one inspiring true great rapper. What about Nas, what about Big L, what about Tupac, what about Biggie, what about Gangstarr? I hate that people underestimate others but believe Immortal Tech is the best around. Even though, some rappers are dead they still remained as legends.

And i agree that he only keeps to his political material. Tech is good, but not my favourite he would be my least favourite. Give words up for Nas or Gangstarr. I hate leaving such real and meaningfull lyricists who's been around the game for years.

I think it's really much better than the "stripclub"-rap or the souljaboy stuff. Also, intelligence does not always come from school. I do see your point though.
