Welcome to a somber night for the poll of the day. Here's a subject not too many people are keen on. Death.

I saw a thread about a guy who really feared death, which kind of inclined this poll. I know that nobody wants to die, especially at a young age. But my question is if you fear death, or just not completing life goals before the end?

I am not afraid of dying. Not only because I have a general good outlook on the life I live, but this:

This show made me not only appreciate life, and family, but helped me come to terms that, as the picture says, everything ends. Basically, this show changed my life.

What's your outlook?

it must come there is no escaping it.

I don't care if i live for next 10 years or to 50 or 100, as long as i can be happy and do what i want, death will never bother me.

As you post something that makes you really think about life i will do the same.

The 5 people you meet in heaven. I let a copy an paste explain it better then i can.

"Part melodrama and part parable, Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven weaves together three stories, all told about the same man: 83-year-old Eddie, the head maintenance person at Ruby Point Amusement Park. As the novel opens, readers are told that Eddie, unsuspecting, is only minutes away from death as he goes about his typical business at the park. Albom then traces Eddie's world through his tragic final moments, his funeral, and the ensuing days as friends clean out his apartment and adjust to life without him. In alternating sections, Albom flashes back to Eddie's birthdays, telling his life story as a kind of progress report over candles and cake each year. And in the third and last thread of the novel, Albom follows Eddie into heaven where the maintenance man sequentially encounters five pivotal figures from his life (a la A Christmas Carol). Each person has been waiting for him in heaven, and, as Albom reveals, each life (and death) was woven into Eddie's own in ways he never suspected. Each soul has a story to tell, a secret to reveal, and a lesson to share. Through them Eddie understands the meaning of his own life even as his arrival brings closure to theirs."

The book is great and the movie(2004 version) is good and follows the book quite well. So do your self a favor and choose one. When i say the book is great that's coming from a guy who hates reading books and It is one of the very few books i actually read page to page )

I do fear it, even when I think "Why fear the inevitable?" It's just one of the many things that keep me up at night. I usually just distract myself from thinking about it by keeping busy and having fun.

I don't fear death itself. Its how it will happen that concerns me. Will I be in horrible agonizing pain before I die or will I be fast asleep when I succumb? I don't care about my accomplishments in life since I wouldn't be able to actually enjoy its benefits when I'm dead....

I don't fear death, I fear dying. I fear that the people around me will be extremely sad, I don't like that. That's the only reason I dislike death.

I do not fear death. Fearing something that is going to happen and cannot be stopped makes no sense. I don't know whether there is a heaven or hell but if there isn't im not going to pay it much mind, I'll be dead.

I don't particularly fear death as the physical event it is, but what comes (or doesn't) after. My utter lack of faith tells me that after I'm dead, there is no more: an eternal slumber, and the end of my consciousness. What that means is that I don't fear death, I fear the possibility of simply ceasing to exist after my life ends.

Even those who accept death fear it a bit. It's natural to fear something we know literally nothing concrete about. Personally if I knew I was going to die soon I would accept it and not spend my time crying about it. I would still wish I wasn't dying though. Immortality would be pretty nice...

I fear dieing not being able to acheive/do everything i wanted to do in life.

One thing a friend of mine once said to me when he was in hospital diagnosed with cancer is that he'd always wanted to grow up and become a soldier, and that people always said that he could die doing that and in the situation he was then he could die aswell.

So he said "I'd rather die being who i want to be and living how i want to and know that this death is my fault and choice than die of something like cancer that i had no choice in"

So yeh just my 2 cents

Everyone fears death. It is an absolutely 100% completely natural fear that is inherent in all of humanity. If we didn't fear death, we'd just go walking off cliffs and stabbing our selves just 'cause.

Don't fear death as I do dying painfully. But still, you know I'd sooner go down in a ball of flames than I would lay here and be bored to death.

I don't think death fears, but rather the thought of actually dying fears me. Knowing you're going to die (in an unnatural way mind you, like someone pointing a gun or being in a plane crash) scare me a lot. Actually being dead though is another story. I know I have to die sooner or later.

Yes, I do fear death. I fear that I may go to Hell after death...I mean not everyone gets into Heaven. Right? I fear that my death may be very painful and slow. I sometimes worry that I may be alone when I die, and that frightens me very much. So, yes, death scares me. Even if I knew for a fact that Heaven exists, and that after I pass on I would be transported straight to the pearly gates I would still be scared of dieing.

Depends how I feel that day... Some days I feel like I could care less, some days I feel like I don't ever want to die. For the most part though, I'm not afraid of dying. It happens to everyone and I imagine it will be quite the releif when the time comes.

I fear people I care about dying, but not dying myself, when it's time it's time.
