I'm switching over to ATT in a month and I'm interested in buying a smart phone.

Does anyone know any good smart phone options that I should be looking into?

I'm currently looking at the Blackberry Pearl, BlackJack, and iPhone...

I'd like a full qwerty (I know the Pearl doesn't have one) and a nice browser, as I'm getting the unlimited data plan.

Thank you all in advance.

Also does anyone know the Q4 smart phone line up for ATT? I heard something about the Pearl 2 / BlackJack 2

DO NOT get the blackjack. Anything with Windows Mobile is horrendous, especially BJ and Moto Q that don't have touchscreens. I have a WM5 smartphone now and I absolutely hate it, it screws up your task lists, loses calendar events, crashes constantly, ringer rarely works, alarms go off when you haven't set an alarm, wifi doesn't work on VPN, etc etc etc.... Basically, WM sucks.
If you want a qwerty keyboard and a good browser it sounds like the iphone is the way to go for your choices. You might wanna look at some unlocked symbian phones too (like Nokia). You won't find a better browser than safari on the iphone, or a better interface, but you'll get a real keyboard, 3G data speed, and GPS if you find the right phone.

I got the iPhone, got it when it was $600 and love it, its an awsome iPod, has great email, great camera, great internet, YouTube, Maps, you can even mod it, and in Febuary Apple is gonna let 3rd party developers make programs for it, meaning games games and more games. I'd recommend the iPhone highly, also, I predict a IM program and a Word Processing program by 3rd party developers. So yea, get it, love it, thank me later :)

Hmm thank you for the info. Does the iPhone have 3G data speed? Could you recommend a good Nokia around $400 or less?

How is the browser? I keep hearing great things about the iPhone's browser. Can it pretty much fully go into any website?

I tried the Pearl's browser and it was mainly HTML... which I didn't care for too much.

The iPhone has slower EDGE data, but I'm sure 3G is on the way. I think it's kinda moot though, I don't use a phone for blazing fast internet speeds. And you can use the built in wifi if you need faster downloads.
From Nokia S60 touch is looking good, but no price yet. The N95 is good, but overprice IMO compared to the iphone. Their site has a huge variety that match many different needs. With the price drop though the iphone is a really good deal compared to many nokias.

So to get 3G, would I just have to do a firmware update on the phone (assuming it releases in the future)... how much quicker is 3G compared to EDGE? I will actually being using the browser quite a bit, that's why I was wondering.

The N95 looks like a phenomenal phone, but geez that is expensive.

3G is a hardware thing, it's a completely different radio, so a firmware update won't change it. 3G is roughly twice as fast as edge (384 vs 200 kbps). The N95 does have a lot of cool features, but I like the size, browser, interface, and media functions of the iphone better.

It's okay, but the scrolly wheel gets annoying. Go with the Tilt.
