Man,that girl just proves kings point. And i do not think he wants that audience. Man,that girl is such a winner. She didn't have much credibility to begin with, but once she said, "Yeah, they're good books, I can't get past the third page without boring myself to death.", it was like.. :| :?LOL That's brilliant. I've only read The Gunslinger, and that has given me a great impression, so I've ordered "Drawing of the Three" and "The Bachman Books" which have 4 stories he wrote under the name of "Richard Bachman". After I read those I'm going to order "The Wastelands", "The Stand" and "Cell".Speaking of Stephen King, you guys should check out this.

I agree.:P.. i just finished reading it actually. :) To bad the ending to that book was crap. I've read Needful Things and Firestarter. I usually enjoy reading his novels, but for some reason I have trouble remembering any of the plot from stories he writes.[QUOTE="ff7cloudking"]

It was very different than what I've previously read (Darren Shan books) it was also alot harder since I wasn't accustomed to certain words he used. But, yeah, what I got out of it was pretty good.Speaking of Stephen King, you guys should check out this.

I actually liked the ending to Cell.
I just got the felling, while reading the last few chapters, that it seemed like Stephen King was almost bored in writing them. Just with the way things were structured and how rushed it just seemed overall. I've been meaning to read The Gunslinger, but everytime I go to Barnes and Noble they always have cheap books on sale that are interesting. I'm currently reading a novel by Kevin Baker called "Striver's Row".[QUOTE="ff7cloudking"][QUOTE="Pittfan666"] To bad the ending to that book was crap. I've read Needful Things and Firestarter. And to rephrase what I said before its not that I didnt like the ending, but I didnt see it as a good ending or a bad ending. It was somewhere in the middle for me. (Yeah,I know thatthis isvery different from what I said before)
Nightmares And Dreamscapes. It's actually a collection of short stories and a lot of them are fantastic. But I think his best novel is The Talisman.
what by stephen king isnt the best ?, stephen king is teh king of horror, along with george romero

The king of horror? Honestly, I've always seen him as the Bill Gates of horror. That's not meant to be a bad thing, the guy has an incredible talent for characterization, I just think he's grown pretty commercial over the years. Not quite a sellout but...
If you ask me, the kings of horror are Poe and Lovecraft. And I actually think Stephen King would tell you the same thing :P
Haha. She looked like she was about to explode. If you're going to be obsessed about something at least be obsessed about something good.Speaking of Stephen King, you guys should check out this.

Well my opinion on King,is that he is probably the best Author of horror stories, however there are other writers that are not as good authors in the literary sense, but they write a much better horror story,Jack ketchum,Bently Little, and Clive Barker just to name a few. And thats not even including Poe,Lovecraft or even Bradbury, who without their groundbreaking work this discussion would be moot.[QUOTE="Euroshinobi"]

In all my time seeing topics and articles about the kings of horror, the names Stephen King, Alfred Hitchcock, Or George Romero always came up, never have i seen Poe or lovecraft thrown in the mix, Lovecraft is good but i dont think he can qualify as even a prince of horror lol he cant go against a guy with loads of great horror books under his belt, and the guy who created zombies c'mon youre talking crazy now !The Shining by far.
But i've enjoyed his other stuff that i've read. Salem's Lot, Cell, Desperassion, the Stand, and i have the Dead Zone on my to read books.
But Gunslinger was one of the worst books i've read in a long long time. Waited the whole book for something interesting to happen, and it never did. Just imo though.
Hmmmm...well I don't really think much of the Stephen King books that I have read, but I do remember The Shining being quite scary when I was a wee bit younger. Of course that was way back in the '70s and I haven't read it again since so I'm not sure how it would hold up to my personal standards these days. Maybe I'll give it a bit of a spin when I'm on my lunch break tomorrow.
Me too, Cell was ok, but i want to read the Dark Tower series. The only Stephen King book that I've read is Cell.
