I found this story disturbing, to say the least, especially the clear indications that prosecutors both fabricated the evidence that incriminated the guy and hid the evidence that would have exonerated him.

Hmm. I wonder if there's a LifeTime special in the works? I wonder if Nancy Grace will run the story?

This pisses me off...

God damn Homophobes win again... That poor guy just lost 20 years of his life just because he was gay and was a babysitter. Now he will forever have that stigma of being a gay child molestor because some stupid parent was too damn insecure.

This is why I go out of my way to avoid other peoples kids and minor teenage girls.

You get accused of a crime like that and it is guilty untill proven innocent.....

Reminds me of that video which was on youtube, there was a taxi driver driving these four girls somewhere and they started smoking in the cab, he asked them to stop smoking and they started insulting him, then they jumped out the car and started yelling that the taxi driver had raped them. The worst part of it is that I know for a fact had the taxi driver not had a camera installed in his car he would be in prison, lost his wife, lost custody of his children... it's DISGUSTING, literally makes me feel sick a persons life can be completely destroyed by mindless people.

He was actually sentenced to three life terms. He'd still be in jail if the deleted portions of the video evidence hadn't been found. :|

Thing is, I don't know how they can even pay him back for making him spend 20 years of his life in jail, and attatching the child molester label to him. A large sum of money can't fix something like this.

here is the video I'm talking about

The guy didn't win the case as the police said there wasn't enough evidence either way

Also the full video was removed from youtube for terms of service violation.

Oh you mean he didn't get in jail for it? They let him walk, but he lost his case about suing them?

Anyway to stay on topic. I think it would be fair to give the people responsible for his 21 years in prison, 21 years in prison.

Yes, he wanted $60,000 in damages but the police said there wasn't enough evidence either way for him to win the case :? ie. he got screwed over even further.

Not uncommon.. yet most of us are ready to wield our pitch forks just on the fact somebody was accused of such a thing... even if not found guilty.

Hopefully he can enjoy the rest of his life, but it must suck knowing you spent the majority of it behind bars.

And people say people accused of a crime are given too many rights :? If they were given any less rights this would probably happen 10 times as much.

Poor guy. And 21 years for child molestation? That's quite a bit.scar-hawk

Yeah, imo the penalties for child sex crimes are a bit too steep. I'm not saying that we should let them off easy, but when you look at it from an economic perspective it would really just be better to kill the kid after you're done molesting them since that way you "only" get convicted of murder which wouldn't carry much more of a prison sentence and when you get out you're a free man. No lists your name will appear on for the rest of your life, you don't have to stay away from parks, schools, etc., and in a ****ed up way murderers are given some respect in society (it's cool) whereas a child molester is at the bottom of the barrel.

Again, I'm not suggesting that we let rapists and child molesters off with a light sentence, they're very serious crimes. I'm just saying that it's absolutely stupid when any crime gets you a harsher sentence than murder (which is, imo, the ultimate crime).

Anyway, I hate hearing stories like this where someone spends half their adult life in prison for something they didn't do. There really needs to be checks in place for this sort of thing. I'm thinking something like if a person is found innocent after being sentenced they should get a minimum of $50,000 for every year spent in jail. That would make the state thing twice before encouraging their prosecutors to get guilty verdicts at any cost. Or better yet, make it so that any prosecutor found to have knowingly misled a jury be locked away for a long time (ideally they should get the same exact sentence the person they framed got).

What I really want to know is this: what the **** was going through the prosecutors' brains? Hiding evidence you know exists to get a guy you almost certainly know to be innocent charged with child molestation? I mean, seriously?

He'd better get some pretty hefty compensation for that. He lost twenty years of his life because a bunch of ****ing homophobic losers didn't want him watching their kids. It takes quite a bit to piss me off but that did it in a good thirty seconds.
