I'm already in decent shape, (a few weeks into basketball season), but i have like, 15-20 lbs of excess that are really slowing me down. I really want to get rid of my love handles and flab on my abs, but also increase my stamina and leg strength.
I know it says that it includes plyometrics but do you feel like your legs are getting stronger and that your legs are being worked, specifically your thighs/butt
I know people that just followed the video and ignored the food planspero2008You certainly can make your own food choices and ignore the plan, but you won't get the same results. The food plan is in stages that cater to the intensity of the workouts and works to replace nutrients lost and up the most needed ones when doing such a rigorous fitness plan. It's there more to aid you in getting the best results more than to put you on a diet.
[QUOTE="BranKetra"]Find out for yourself. It's your body, after all. Go to bodybuilding.com for details. That site has good info on a lot of things.Jph625
I know how plyometrics work. I'm asking for other people's experience as i'm not paying 200$ to find out for myself
I didn't just mean plyometrics, I meant both P90x and Insanity. It's a site dedicated to working out. It has forums, too. It's bound to have some people who use it. Coming to Gamespot for advice is kinda like walking through a fire pit.[QUOTE="go_mets"]

I would not call that 'decent shape'
The reason that I am bringing it up is that P90x is pretty tough (at least parts of it like Yoga).
I am in good shape (workout every day), and I struggled with parts of it.
But YES, it does work your entire body
Plyo is a beast of a work-out. I do believe it has helped me out somewhat, but I feel the series as a whole is lacking in leg developement.
If you plan on following the program, your legs will probably see the least developement.
There are some people selling individual disks on ebay for around $10. If you're looking for that specific work-out to help with basketball, you could try getting it from there then use it to supplement another work-out plan, or decide later on if you want to take the $200 plunge.
[QUOTE="auron_16"]Yeah it played in the DVD player fine, if that's what you're asking.Jph625
Your presence in this thread is entirely unnecessary.

Well I can run about 6 miles before i feel tired so i call that decent shape. I've always been big my whole life so my muscles are all accustomed to it. I'm 6ft and the strongest lifter on varsity over 6'6 and 6'5 bigs. I don't look fat at all its just a combination of like 10 lbs on my upper body and 10 lbs on my thighs, but i am certainly in good shape.

Difference of opinion. 20 lbs of excess fat =/= good shape to me no matter how far you can run. Also, if you can run that far and do it on a normal basis, I find it hard to believe that you have 10 lbs of excess fat on your lower body (especially being a guy). You should have little to no fat on your legs if you do that run often.[QUOTE="Jph625"][QUOTE="rawsavon"]

I've been chubby my whole life but never noticeably. Maybe 20 lbs is an overestimate because if you were to look at me without a shirt on you wouldn't think "wow he's fat". I look average at worst.

I was not trying to imply you are fat. I just commented that I did not think 20 lbs of EXCESS fat = good shape. And the only reason that I brought that up was b/c parts of P90x can be tough even if you work out quite a bit[QUOTE="BranKetra"]Find out for yourself. It's your body, after all. There are...other means...of obtaining said videos. I did the Plyo workout today, and it is not for the faint of heart. You need determination and a lot of time if you want to follow the full regime.I do both. I've done Insanity twice (as in 120 days, not just 2 workouts), and I'm on my first 90 days of P90X (on week 7). Insanity is basically all cardio and getting your heart rate really high. I was usually out of breath and drenched in sweat at the end of the workouts but I didn't really get anything out of it on my second run through. P90x is about muscle confusion and I've noticed a difference in muscle tone. I am slim to begin and I didn't see a significant change in my body after doing Insanity but I can definitely feel it, like when I run. I didn't follow the nutrition plan at all. Heck, I had McDonalds every day for a week here and there and at least a Coke a day. So from how I followed that guide and my own personal experience: Insanity helped me lose or maintain weight, while P90X helped build muscle. I'm not saying Insanity won't help you build muscle, I definitely felt it in my legs. But if you want guns on your arms, ect then I'd suggest P90X.
