I love how in the last article they said "we would love it if they sued us because we would win and further prove our study"
What a bunch of idiots.
Or people of superior intelligence realize that for most uses, browsers are all virtually equivalent (modulo 0.05 seconds difference in page load times) and using one is not significantly different than using anotherThe story may have been a hoax, but the resualts are likely true.
Most IE users arn't aware or tech savy enough to download another browser, and would likely average lower IQ if measured as a group
dercoo
Eh, I'd be surprised if it wasn't true anyway though. Internet Explorer is the default browser for all Window's PCs and people with lower IQs are probably less likely to change the default browser and install a new one. Commander-GreeHow does IQ correlate to that?

Why choose the service that is slower, bugger, less secure, and much less user friendly then other free to download services.
Why, because many are ignorant of other nonpre installed browsers.
Not saying IE users are mentally handicapped, but would average a few points lower on an IQ exam compared to Firefox or chome users.

What if a light bulb savvy person thought you had a lower IQ because you do not purchase a certain brand of light bulb? This new light bulb is brighter and more energy efficient. it doesn't mean you have a lower IQ because you're not into light bulbs and neither does what browser you use, because some people just don't know. Same applies for virtually anything you buy, choose to use etc...Or people of superior intelligence realize that for most uses, browsers are all virtually equivalent (modulo 0.05 seconds difference in page load times) and using one is not significantly different than using another[QUOTE="xaos"][QUOTE="dercoo"]

Newer versions on IE are no more buggy, slower, or less secure than firefox/chrome. IE9 is more secure when it comes to malware than anything else..........

Yea, um... Fair enough, I should have looked into who did the study. Dam, not only are people making up stuff about IE user's IQ, but they are also skewing facts about how secure it is. Internet browsers are serious business.Nonetheless I still stand behind what I said. They is not such a big different between IE9 and Chrome to conclude that its users "average a few points lower on an IQ exam".

are you serious?.. i tried to get my mom to use firefox or opera as new browser but she's just so use to IE she didn't want to make the switch, that doesn't has anything to do with her intelligence, she just likes to use what she is use too. She didn't grow up with technology like you or I, I think its very silly if anyone thinks those results are even remotely true. Heck my old math teacher used IE and he's the smartest guy i know. The story may have been a hoax, but the resualts are likely true.

Why the hell do people really care that much about internet browsers?
I have so much other things to be concerned about, not some silly studies/debates on how some group of people are smarter in relevance to what browser they use.

For IE 8 and down there is a massive difference in everything compared to alternative browsers.
For 9 and up your statement is valid for the average user.
Can't say I'm surprised.
What does that say about the people that believed it...:oLJS9502_basic

Indeed. Going by StatCounter for the month of July, IE8 had market share of 26.30%, IE7 had market share of 5.45%, and IE6 had market share of 3.42%. IE9, on the other hand, had market share of 7.27%. Add the percentages up for IE6, IE7, and IE8 and that is 35.17%. Also take into consideration that IE9 is never coming to Windows XP and that Windows XP is still the most used Windows operating system and you'll come to the shocking realization that the vast majority of Internet Explorer users are using IE8 or lower. Internet Explorer is still the most used browser out there too. What's even sadder is, more people use IE7 and even IE6 than Opera, a far superior browser.Ignorance does not equal stupidity. It's simply a lacking of knowledge, not the incapability to understand it. That said, it would be more surprising if this turned out to be true. Why choose the service that is slower, bugger, less secure, and much less user friendly then other free to download services.

I don't think IQ means what people think it means. IQ is not related to knowledge so much as it is releated to brain function. So, if I'm a genius but I'm not into computers, there would be no relationship between my IQ and my browser choice.

I am amazed that we've reached the low point of considering a browser choice an indication of "tech savviness".
Specific knowledge does not equal IQ. Not sure why people think that knowledge about different web browsers and choices made or unmade about their use would have anything to do with IQ.
I would hypothesize that the people that think this may skew lower on average IQ themselves since they appear to be weak in reasoning ability:lol:

Those who can, do; those who can't, browse?Figured. I used to use EI, not because I was stupid or unaware of other browsers, but simply because I didnt care. All of them browse the web and thats all i care about. i started using firefox because for some reason flashplayer stopped working on IE. And so far I am not impressed.
Tried AdBlock Plus? Tab Mix Plus? FoxTab? Tried themes like MX3? FXOpera? FXChrome? Admittedly, the latter three are just themes to make your browser pretty, but the former three certainly aid your browsing experience. Try them and be impressed.Figured.
