I'm groping desperately for a way out of college and into a field that I will actually be able to be involved in and not hang myself. Video games is the obvious choice. Is college usually a requirement for getting an internship? I tried getting into gotgame.com's program but they require you to be a junior or senior in college.

Does anyone know of any internships or if I'm screwed without college? Thanks.

Most internships are meant for college students, so naturally you need to go to school to get them. However, what type of work do you want to do in the video game industry? If you want to actually code the games go into college as a computer science major. If you want to do artwork or just general game design then I don't really know the process to getting an internship or job for those.

If you go into college as a computer science major you should be able to get an internship as long as you keep up good grades. There are all sorts of career fairs where you can hand out your resumes to prespective employers. Not to mention there is a career center at almost every school which can help you out.

Just keep up good grades while in school and try your best to get involved.

Good Luck!

I'm mostly interested in concept stuff. Actually I'm probably MOST interested in getting a job writing for a gaming magazine or site. I'm naturally a great writer. I just have terrible trouble in school. I suffer from really bad A.D.D. (the real kind; not the kind when your mom is tired of listening to you and drugs you). It's just so hard to focus. If that's the only way, I guess I'll have to tough it out but I'm really hoping that I can get an unpaid job getting coffee for someone at a magazine place and eventually get him drunk enough to give me a job. CRAP. Thanks for the information!

Any help would be greatly appreciated here haha.
