I got it because it is the best mp3 player in the world, and I know it's the best for many reasons. Apple is freaking awesome, for one... The interface is amazing. iTunes is godly. It is a fashion statement. It is hip. It is in. It is tested by millions, and adored by the world.
Think about it, when someone wants to say mp3 player these days they substitute iPod for it, even if they're talking about mp3 players in general (evident in the news, on commercials, on tv shows, in movies). For example if you see a news report about working out, and they are saying how music helps they'll say "Take your iPod on a walk with you". In my music textbook, in the chapter about technology and music it mentions mp3 players and shows a picture of someone with an iPod.
iPod's freaking rock. I'm doing an informative speech on the history of them, and got some great books on the iPod (there are quite a lot of books on the thing for being so young). I got iPod Pedia (has a good chapter on history, and a good chapter on the specs of different iPods), and iPod Therefore I Am, a book about enjoyment of music, and the authors iPod obsession.
disagrees. The "Presidential" comes with a pricetag of $45,000 USD, though.
