I've always been PC, and up until now I've never considered Macs. I know they're better, I'm just prideful and stubborn. Soo... the question comes up, can I have an iPod Touch, and still be able to work the the music files? Like, does iTunes just convert all my files and protect them? Or will they stay the same? Will I be able to work with the iPod from a more PC perspective? etc.?

You don't need to buy a Mac for anything, really.

ya, iTunes will organize your library and try to convert any incompatible audio files like wma. If you have MP3's, that should be fine.

What I was going to say. But yeah, iPod Touch is a good device. iPod plays popular formats so most operating system will work with it.

Well, not to throw gas into the fire, but depending on the task at hand, a Mac may be preferable.

Yup. I've got an iTouch that I use with my PCs (running 7) and it works great.

No.

I disagree with your no. I actually prefer pc's over mac, but the iphone/ipod ecosystem works fluidly within OS X then Windows. For example; I have you noticed how long it takes for iTunes to launch in windows vs mac? I have a quad core machine with decent amount of memory and specs, and it's still annoyingly slow.

If anything, Apple is at fault in this situation for making a shoddy Windows port of iTunes. P.S.: I don't hate Apple or their products, I just think it's stupid when people think Apple products are somehow functionally better than their non-Apple competitors when IRL, they are usually the same.

The only task that Macs are better at doing than PCs is making you look like a pretentious hipster.

in the end, I don't even buy PMP's anymore, I just use my smartphone... less devices to carry. Ya, I would like to get a new gadget, but my phone is awesome as it is (HTC Evo, incase you're wondering).
