ipod touch or zune?

I can get a 30GB Zune off of Amazon for 170 bucks or an ipod touch for 8GB for 280 bucks. I dunno which is the better value. Also, can I go on the internet anywhere with the ipod touch like a cellphone say? Or only at home with wireless internet. (I don't have a wireless router).

Yeah, with the Touch you can get online anywhere that you can access wifi. If you think you'll need the 30 gigs, go with the zune, if you only need the 8, get the touch. Clinik

If you have no issue with the price difference, and can fit all your music/videos/podcasts/etc on an 8gb player. I'd go with the Touch for the internet.

I would get the Zune. It's more bang for your buck. Though, I'm still waiting on a unicode firmware update. :evil:the_foreign_guy

McDonalds, Starbucks, some airports I think. You'll run into some personal networks as well, but most of them are locked and private. Wifi signals aren't very strong is some cases as well, so even if you do manage to luck out and find a connection, it'll be really slow. At this point, it's not that great, but it will be in the future.

Yes. Just google "download youtube videos" and there will be tons of sites that will do it. The best I've seen in called "zamzar" or something like that. Yotube videos are not of high quality, though and will look bad on even the 5.5G iPod.

Yes. They will be in the .flv format. Just convert them, import them to iTunes, and sync them to your iPod. The Zune plays MP4 as well as wmv, though, so you have two options. MP4 videos do not hold tags and the Zune software lacks a real database for videos, so any MP4 videos you have will be under one long list called "Videos". There's no seperating them unless they are wmv and even then you must use third party software to tag them.

Well with the Zune 30 you don't get the sweet touchpad. However, you do get an equalizer with the Zune 30 if it matters that much to you (I hate equalizers, so I never use them). Other than that though they're both basically the same except for the shell.

In addition to the better (much better) screen, the Zune 80 has a better casing, it plays more formats, has a better battery, and a uses a higher resolution when using video out. The Zune 80 plays mp4 videos natively instead of having them converted as they are synced to the device. The Zune 80 is a much better player.

I think I'll get an 80 Gig Zune soon
