Wtf, im just severely distraught right now, last night i spoke with my friend over the phone for a couple of hours. In the middle of the discussion a small debate broke out(im an atheist)Well, to my surprise i find out he takes the entire bible literally. And you know that struck me hard because if you talk to him it doesnt seem as though he would be the type of person, but i should have known better. No matter what points i brought up against him, he would just disregard.Up to the point where he had no argument all he said was "im sorry i dont believe that."No reason at all.I was just...wow

So any i wake this morning and i remember hearing about this video "a letter from hell" and i decide to go watch it.

Let me tell you right now that this video is a load of tyrannical ****.How can anyone believe this ****.Its understandible that you believe in some form of god, or whatever force, power, deity. But to take it to such extremes. Not only that but this is the kind of brainwashing lunacy that they play at some churches. To kids. And they eat it all up.Read theyoutube comments its utterly asinine. They actually play this sleazy **** to kids....

.....Here just watch this ****

Look, if he respects that you've made a choice to not believe in God or whatever, you should offer him the same. Though, that letter from hell is ****ing hilarious. "Why didn't you tell me how to be a Christian? Lolz brimstone, lolz heart beating after death, lolz pain" Obviously, he didn't tell his friend because he didn't want to spend eternity with him :x

You're distraught that your friend is religious? You're bothered by your inability to shake his faith? He doesn't seem like that "type" of person? Lame, dude... lame.

His "faith" is irrational, otherwise he would be a pretty smart and rational being. It just took me by surprise, otherwise i dont care.

The message at the end really bothered me. What about the girl on the street, what about this and that person. What about those of other religions. That video was too evangelical. I think that's the word? Where you "spread the word" and try to convert folks. That gets on my nerves.

Yeah, i mean, i have no problem with people believing in something else. All people should be free to believe but to try and push it on people, or to damage your mind to the point where you disregard rational thought is ridiculous.

Most people are irrational. A scientist can be just as irrational as a preacher. A student just as irrational as a worshiper. Both are blinded by what they are told to know. Only few people over come that.

Proselytize.

Anyway, that video made me chuckle and depressed. I've seen worse, though.

Faith itself isn't "rational" or "irrational".

It depends on how you use it. Rationality isn't based on the conclusions you reach, but how you reach them.

I saw that ages ago. I remember noticing how his cause of death was drinking and driving, you know, just to give him what little accountability they could. But then they mentioned the little girl at the end, and it got me wondering, how well would Christians warm up to this tripe if they made her the main character.

In fact, I just posted a "preview" of that scenario in the video's comment section under the same screen name I use here. It may have very well been a bannable offense on Gamespot, and rightly so, but I wanted to make sure these people realize exactly what God they're worshipping.

Western religions are fear based, what do you expect?

Anyway I liked this comment to the video;

I'm wondering how well Christians would warm up to this tripe if the main character was the little girl they mentioned at the end. 'Let's say she's a seven-year-old who's awaiting her eternal judgement after being brutally raped and murdered by a group of pedophiles (who all later repent, accept Jesus and go to heaven). "Mommy, Daddy, a bunch of bad men did some stuff to me today that I didn't understand, and now I'm in a place I don't understand..." Disgusting.'

Gotta love moronic Youtube comments. I'm not surprised. Whoever wrote that is a bigot and nows nothing about what he bashes. If he did, he would know that young children go directly to Heaven. Either he doesn't know and just yells on Internet videos about how evil God is (big man) or he does know and just leaves that tidbit out of it. Either way, Youtube comments are always such wonderful sources for maniacal depression.

Where exactly does it say that in the bible? I've asked a few people and haven't had any passage produced...I'm under the impression that children go to hell if they haven't accepted jesus (probably the case becaue most children are probably too young to understand)...

12. I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

Thanks, nobody has actually legitamatly tried to look up passages when I've asked before.

after reading through the passages and the ones around them, it really doesn't seem clear that that is what those passages are saying. The chatholic church invented pergatory for this reason in order to convert mothers in areas with high casualty rates of children. It just doesn't seem like that would happen if these passages were that clear. for instance the mark passage seems to suggest the opposite of the point you were trying to make.

Western religions?

What do you mean, because as far as I'm aware, the three monotheistic religions originated in the east?
