Tarantino made the case in Pulp Fiction that you're either an Elvis fan or a Beatles fan and you can't be both. And for the most part on messageboards or in casual conversation, people laud one while pointing out all the demerits of the other. People seem to do that for Pac and Biggie as well, though with their history the polarization is understandable.

I suppose it would be though it's an insult to Elvis and the Beatles to compare 2pac and biggie to them.

I like Biggie and I like 2Pac. (I think The Beatles are good but Elvis is garbage)

You can ask any generation who Elvis or the Beatles are and they will know, I don't think the same could be said for tupac and biggie. I think rap crossing over into the mainstream was already happening in the mid-late 80's, slightly before tupac and biggie came around. I would put tupac above biggie though in terms of likely to be known. Tupac is definitely one of the poster boys and an icon for the rap genre. I like both Elvis and The Beatles, though I like the Beatles more.

I'm not a fan of any of them.

Tarantino's argument is invalid.

Elvis and The Beatles are two different generations and that is probably the reason. And in the present The Beatles are still a big part of pop culture but Elvis is relegated to mostly his generation. I'd imagine though that people do exist that like both. As for Tupac and Biggie....I don't think they compare to either. They just weren't mass market enough....

2pac = Elvis as both are still alive. 2pac just doesn't know when to let things go...when his time is over

the fact that so many of the people in this thread have missed the point is actually mind blowing. OP isn't comparing 2pac/Biggie to Elvis/Beatles directly.

he's saying that people tend to like either Elvis/Beatles but not both, and the same thing for Pac/Biggie.

smh, people see a music thread and jump at the oppotunity to spout their elitism. "but but, pac and biggie arent even close to elvis/beatles ur iz wrong op"

I thought the same thing but I wasn't really surprised, OT takes any opportunity to bash hip-hop
