If it's meant to be anti-persian it really did a terrible job since most Americans don't even know who the persians are today. If anything the Americans are the modern day equivalant of the persians.
LOL this just reminded me of that gamespot article talking about Venezuala trying to stop a game from being created because they think it made them look bad... it just a game, and this movie is just a movie. And this is actually based on a real event so if anything its the ancient persians fault many many years ago for giving us the idea for this movie to begin with.
Oh burn. I want to live in the seventies, free of speech is just going too far. Who gives a **** if the author didn't like persians? it's one hell of a movie, and suprisingly enough, the Persians WERE the invaders, even in history.
I don't think it was purposely anti-Persian, but I do think it painted the Persians as hideously deformed barbaric freaks. I can see why they're offended.

I don't think Frank Miller is the type of guy to create such a movie..it was made to create a sense of "demigodem" for the 300. The politician that was portrayed as a jerk was actually the commander of the naval fleet. Without him, the 300 Spartans and 1,000 Arcadians wouldn't have even had that battle which has been remembered for so long. They would have been flanked and the battle would have ended at the beginning as it did at the end; they would have been flanked from behind. The phalanx formation that the Spartans used was real, the difference in ability was true, and apparently the "arrows blocking out the sun was true." Xerces did in fact order 5000 archers to fire their arrows at once. When the Arcadians retreated and the Spartans stayed, a number of other Greeks did stay for the final battle as well. During the last battle, Leonidas was killed and a fight over the body began. The Spartans remaining managed to get the body, but were quickly killed as well.. My bottom line...the same as the first.....Frank Miller created a movie to focus on the 300 Spartans. I think for the movie entertainment value, it was a wise choice. It gave the 300 a sense of uber-virtuous men. I suppose they were, but at the same time, the politican guy [spoiler] who was killed by Leonidas's wife during the meeting of the politicians [/spoiler] was just as much of a key factor in the battle of that time as the 300 Spartans were, I say.

Indeed it is, but the game suggested NK had wmds, and was planning on using them to take over SK. If the second one does the same to venezuala...I can see the reasoning, I guess.
It's not really racist... the Persians in it are barbaric and feminine, but it doesn't really make any effort to compare them to modern Persians. So I guess you could say it is a little racist, but only to help with the atmosphere.
