I enjoy unions, they do unite people of a similar interest who get along well. aaaaarrrrggggg
Agreed. The only problem is how many there are and most of them deal with the same thing. It's almost impossible to get one going. I've never tried myself, but I've seen them come and go all the time.
For.
On the contrary, Unions unite the members and make it easier for like minded people to discuss things more regularly.
And I got time for both unions and the regular boards... most of the times.
I'm not a big fan of them but I'm not against them eitherdouble_deckerSame with me. In fact, I just quit unions that I'm officer in for the past 2 years. Most of them are dead anyway..

Anti Union, I mean here on gamespot. I feel that unions spread and separate the gamespot community too much and thin out the forums of the posters who are most dedicated to certain boards. Mr47fitter
Its simple really.
A Union needs to be popular to survive, in order to be popular it has to bring people of similar interests together, that way you can talk more about the things you like with people who like it too.
If there was only the game boards and the other forums you can access from the Forums bit (OT, SW, GGD, etc) then it would quite literally be chaos. I mean its chaos now, but it'd just be crazy chaos, everyone would be venting their opinions thinking it was all that mattered, Unions give people a chance to dothat with people who are willing to listen as its usually about something they like.

That is pretty much why I like Unions. I can never post about anime outside of my anime union without someone entering in saying "Anime Sucks", or post about American Football outside of my football unions without someone saying "Yanks stop calling that Football".[QUOTE="Apollo5000"]That is pretty much why I like Unions. Exactly. I mean if half the conversations that took place in Unions happened here, it would be impossible to see anything over Anime, Star Wars, Racing, Football, Baseball, etc, etc, etc. Whatever people make unions about.
Unions give places to peacefully discuss subjects that are either not suitable for other places or just need a controlled environment to hold a stable conversation. As you said people constantly talk here even about things irrelevant to the topics (it is OT after all). There are topics here like "How many *insert variable* have you watched in the past week* now people generally would come in and say 2, 34, 5000, whatever they drunk, but odds are you'll get someone whose like "Why the hell would i watch that crap? That *insert same variable* sucks" and it breaks the conversation. In a union about said variable you can talk about it interuption free...
