So recently there have been a slew of 3D movies and most of them are animated, but none the less, there are still a lot. Is anybody tired of them? There are 13 movies out this year that are 3D and 7 of them have already been released. Does anybody think this is too much? And do you think that with every year will come a larger number of 3D movies? I like to see movies in 3D but not all the time...

Yes. I personally don't like the 3D aspect if a film is 3D. I will still watch the movie, but it just seems distracting most of the time.

If it's used in a good way, where it isn't necessary but enhances the experience (as in the case of Up! and Bolt), no, I'm not tired of them.

If it's used in an annoying way, where the filmmakers over abuse the 3D by constantly throwing things at your face (how that upcoming 3D Final Destination movie looks like it will be), yes, I'm tired of them.

I actually enjoyed Funny People...you just can't go see it expecting just a straight up funny movie. It is more of a serious drama with comedy mixed in. GI Joe...oh man. That looks terrible :P

Obviously the animation...but Henry Selick specifically directed. I'm not sure what else Tim Burton was involved with other than the animation, so don't quote me on that :P

That was exactly my problem... I thought it was gonna be hilarious but it wasn't... The only part I enjoyed was when Eminem came on. And another thing, I knew Eric Bana was in this movie and I felt it should have been over before he even appeared in the movie... And thats saying something

No, not really. 3D is not some new great technology that fits with every single movie. It would really. REALLY suck if every movie was in 3D (at least in what is currently used with the glasses).

This 3-D is pretty new, actually. 3-D has evolved since the 80s. I believe I heard somewhere that the biggest reason why Hollywood is making more movies 3-D now is so they can give theaters an excuse to convert to HD projections. The only way that this type of 3-D will work is on HD, so it gives theaters a reason to switch to HD when that's where the market is going.

Sure am, and I've only seen the one. Though I am sick of all these films advertising the fact that they are in 3D as some sort of selling point. But I don't really care to be honest, as long as I'm given the option to view the film in regular 2D and that it looks like a normal film then they can do whatever they want.

Nope, I love it to be honest. I mean really, 3D can only enhance a movie. That's like saying "anybody else tired of all these hd channels on tv?" You have the option of watching the normal version but everybody else that's ready for something different and exciting will go ahead and watch the 3D one.

plus they can charge more for them so the movie folks are making more money. That probably has something to do with it.

edit- I'd be all for the last season of Lost being in 3D...imagine that. :)

Film-Guy

I really haven't seen very much of anything from the movie. So far, all I've seen are concept art, videogame stills, and posters.

And so far, that little bit has done a HELL of a lot to dampen my hype. Alienfaces that amount to Blue Humans, standard alien terrain and mechs from your run of the mill FPS, and stupid concepts like floating mountains and the planet actually being alive.

I've seen pretty much nothing from the actual movie. Which is worrying, because the movie comes out in something like 5 months. I've seen a hell of a lot of tangential material and heard a lot of comments, and pretty much all of that has been a letdown.

All I can say is that this movie had BETTER deliver. Because every little tease designed to get us more tantalized about the secrecy has done only one thing...gotten me to increasingly care LESS about the movie.

Its not that I don't like movies in 3D, its that there are to many of them. I hate wearing glasses of any sort so it sometimes dampens my movie experience.

Can't say I'm tired of them, seeing as how I haven't seen any of them.

Which ones have you seen, and why are you tired of 3D movies in general?

Its not that I don't like movies in 3D, its that there are to many of them. I hate wearing glasses of any sort so it sometimes dampens my movie experience.

Um...aren't there ways to see the movie WITHOUT having to use glasses? Are these movies released on DVD exclusively in 3D as well?
