Seriously, have you noticed this aswell? Once a small comunity of outcasts is now getting stronger by the numbers. Wherever I go I end up meeting with people who talk about anime, videogames, geek associated franchises, etc etc. The hot girls were seen around the sport type of guy but more and more I see'em around geeks (not hipsters, GEEKS)

Being a closet geek myself I dont know how to feel about this. I liked when our comunity where made of a small number of people, when was really really hard to meet someone into geek stuff as much as myself and you knew you were going to get along but on the other side is positive that we're no longer being seen as weird creeps by society.

What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you like the fact geekism is popular now?

So you liked that it was hard to find people who shared your interests?

The term has sort of changed from meaning a socially awkward individual to someone who is passionate about a subject perhaps the point of being unhealthy.

Geekishness is almost by definition uncool.

I kind of know what you mean. I used to look like that guy with long hair and glasses from hot tub time machine. I hated that and I lost weight and got a haircut. Now those same guys are getting girlfriends faster than me. It sucks because inside I still feel like that guy, but on the outside I look what is considered "normal" (ie fit, short haircut).

Nerd culture has become more popular. People used to mock people who liked anime or video games now more are embracing it.

yeah. and i believe the reason is that Geeks are now controlling the most online communities and with the social media getting more popular everyday they can now advertise themselves.

Because being a basic bitch is so generic nowadays. No one wants a boring wall to talk to.

So many nerds now nothing is unique I really believe the next cool thing is going be being the crazy guy

Crazy people as in behaving like complete animals with friends are the new socially awkward

Nerds were embarrassed to be smart or having a deep interest in one particular thing like video gaming. Now they get a pass like TC said. We push nerds into becoming scientists so they're good people.

Crazy people are embarrassed and they could be our next leader or first man to Mars who knows.

There is a culture of these creative geniuses like it would be that lunch table where the class clown would sit or that coworker that looks like they are a little too into their job or that friend who is always in some conundrum

I am personally satisfied with the push towards making those hobbies more socially accepted. Video games, anime, sci-fi, fantasy, role-playing games. I've always embraced these. People back in the day could consider these loser things but not anymore.

No, not really. There's a lot of them, but that doesn't necessarily make them "the cool thing".

Seems like its a bit more mainstream now, especially with shows like "The Big Bang Theory" kind of promoting geek culture.
