No the boogeyman isn't real he is an urban legend to scare children. the story gets told in different ways however the main things that remain the same are that he either hides in your wardrobe/closet or under your bed and if you dont go to sleep he will come and get you.

In third grade , I thought he was real. I thought I caught him in a jar and brought him to school. I showed my friends the jar and opened it. Needless to say , they all died that day.
