China has 2,250,000 active personnel and 800,000 in the reserve. Much larger compared to America. They're both on the same technology levels as well. They have a very good air force and navy too. The economy is stable, which allows the stability of their military regiments. America is doing pretty crappy in terms of economics, and the war on terrorism isn't helping them at all. Which one do you think is the world superpower. And let's try to reason with logic.Vilot_Heromaybe 2 superpowers?..oh and btw how was your trip to collect samples?
"They're both on the same technology levels as well."
Hardly. Last I saw the military was given huge amounts of funds for the past decade but the results were marginal improvement. In addition military power is becoming less important, economic power is where it is at although China's economy is still largely based on providing as a manufacturing base selling goods to the west. China is bound to become more powerful but their monolithic status as a super power is largely overstated.

China is currently not the dominant political force in the world, so I wouldn't call it a superpower.

Any loss of trading power would be it the european union, China, India, United States etc etc.. Would have terrible effects to the others.. Hence why we will probably never see a large world war like that again.. Its bad for business.. That being said, possibly.. Who knows what will happen in 10 years.. For all we know a natural dieaster or other events may drastically affect one or all nations.
The weapons China uses are just as good as Americas. The Chinese economy is doing better than Americas, and they have the firepower. Vilot_HeroWhere does your intel indicating that their economy is doing better than ours come from? Their GDP is still significantly lower than ours and Japan's, and it is the economy most dependent on foreign markets, which are not doing too well. If anything, it will be the nation hardest hit by this little economic hiccup.

Take a look at this Duxup http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Liberation_Army#Weapons_and_equipment Scroll down to weapons and equipment.
All their weapons are on par with Americas. They even have a Chemical warefare program, and they are researching laser weapons(Particles). You can't say they are not on the same technology levels as America.

Power in the post-Cold War geopolitical arena is determined largely by a combination of economic power and activity, which are both categories in which China is still nowhere near the US. American GDP is still well over double China's GDP, and its government is more active on the geopolitical stage than China by miles. Russia has somewhat less economic power than China, but due to its high level of activity, it actually has more influence on world affairs than China by a significant margin.Take a look at this Duxup http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Liberation_Army#Weapons_and_equipment Scroll down to weapons and equipment.

China hasn't reached the levels of superpower at this time. Numbers aren't quite the best way to determine that either. As for technology I don't believe China is quite up to speed yet. Their economy is largely dependent on exports and they have a large population that isn't all living in luxury.LJS9502_basic
America can totally stop 2,250,000 troops(Not including reserve), and all the armoured vehicles........America wouldn't be able to win without outside help. They use chemical warfare and are researching particle weapons......That sounds pretty high tech to me.

The, quite frankly, childish "who would win in a fight" means of determining power does not actually work in the real world.Yes that is a web page that lists some weapons. It is still just you making a blanket statement ;) I've seen more than enough info to indicate that Chinese military superiority exists at this point in numbers of troops stranded on their mainland only.Take a look at this Duxup http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Liberation_Army#Weapons_and_equipment Scroll down to weapons and equipment.

Seems to be based on assumption and not facts. Oh...we've known how to use chemical warfare for a long time dude. China is just catching up.;)The USA still is. We have the most powerful military and largest economy on a country by country basis. No country can match the influence that the USA has.helium_flash
Proof that America is the most powerful military?? Last time I checked more guns win a war. And a military does have a relation to being a world superpower.

And they have the technology........Their economy might of went down a bit, but they still have a vast amount of resources to maintain their current military. Americas military is pretty shattered right now. I wonder how long it will take before America starts cutting back on their military funding.

The United States has something like 9 Aircraft carriers in commision.. The next country to even come close is Great Britain, and they have I believe only one.... Though its debatable if Untied States would win a invasion and occuption.. China certainly could not win a war when the United States Navy and air force would beat them to a pulp.. Sure they may have a bigger army or more land based armor.. But the pacific ocean splits them apart, and with the amount of navel forces we have.. China would never win.[QUOTE="duxup"][QUOTE="Vilot_Hero"]Yes that is a web page that lists some weapons. And they vastly outnumbered Japan in WWII. Look at how that went.Napoleon's army vastly outnumbered the Russian army. Look at how that went.

Perhapes you should hear the story of what happened to the attempted Spainsh Invasion to England.. The Armada outnumbered the english significantly, they also were going to ferry 60k men from northern france to England through the Armada.. England was only capable of mustering 10k soldiers.. china's military is big, but remember: its not about manpower, its about the power of the man
and from observation i can see, the u.s. soldier is one powerful mother***r (not to say china has bad soldiers, but can you really expect them to field that many men and have each are as well trained and supplied as the u.s.)
but thats just for the military part
economically i can defenitely see them rise up (still some economically backward parts of the country, mostly in the mainland, but they are catching up) but only time will really tell.

And what arbitrary guidelines did you use to determine "good training"? On the issue of tech: American aircraft are more advanced, American military intel (satellite infrastructure and such) is more advanced, American tanks are more advanced, American naval vessels are more advanced, etc. And it doesn't matter anyway-the ocean is China's main means of moving goods around the world and receiving goods in return, so if America were to blockade their ports with their vastly superior navy, China would be, quite frankly, screwed. When Nuclear war breaks out and Canadians are saved by the maple syrup they've slathered over their bodies(which you'll find it the perfect defense of nuclear radiation), they'll take the world when it's vulnerable.yeah violet why havn't you been banned yet?

You have no clue what your talking about.. China if it had 10 times of what it has now could not do squat.. With no navy you can not cross a ocean.. And yes technology is directly related to the air craft carrier, it is the most effecitve and dangerous weapon other than nuclear ordance we have on the battlefield.. I would give my vote to Canada. We have 100,000 troops of pure firepower, and JTF2. India doesn't have that great of special forces and they don't have technology as good as Canada. I'm 100% sure that Canada has better tanks, weapons and everything.Vilot_Hero
