China has 2,250,000 active personnel and 800,000 in the reserve. Much larger compared to America. They're both on the same technology levels as well. They have a very good air force and navy too. The economy is stable, which allows the stability of their military regiments. America is doing pretty crappy in terms of economics, and the war on terrorism isn't helping them at all. Which one do you think is the world superpower. And let's try to reason with logic.

"They're both on the same technology levels as well."

Hardly. Last I saw the military was given huge amounts of funds for the past decade but the results were marginal improvement. In addition military power is becoming less important, economic power is where it is at although China's economy is still largely based on providing as a manufacturing base selling goods to the west. China is bound to become more powerful but their monolithic status as a super power is largely overstated.

Your poll is a little biased. I tend to think Germany is due for a third try ;)

Their economy isn't as stable as you say-it is almost entirely dependent upon our economy and the economy of Europe, neither of which are doing well. China is currently not the dominant political force in the world, so I wouldn't call it a superpower.

The weapons China uses are just as good as Americas. The Chinese economy is doing better than Americas, and they have the firepower.

Its the global market.. Any loss of trading power would be it the european union, China, India, United States etc etc.. Would have terrible effects to the others.. Hence why we will probably never see a large world war like that again.. Its bad for business.. That being said, possibly.. Who knows what will happen in 10 years.. For all we know a natural dieaster or other events may drastically affect one or all nations.

Where does your intel indicating that their economy is doing better than ours come from? Their GDP is still significantly lower than ours and Japan's, and it is the economy most dependent on foreign markets, which are not doing too well. If anything, it will be the nation hardest hit by this little economic hiccup.

Take a look at this Duxup http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People's_Liberation_Army#Weapons_and_equipment Scroll down to weapons and equipment.

All their weapons are on par with Americas. They even have a Chemical warefare program, and they are researching laser weapons(Particles). You can't say they are not on the same technology levels as America.

China hasn't reached the levels of superpower at this time. Numbers aren't quite the best way to determine that either. As for technology I don't believe China is quite up to speed yet. Their economy is largely dependent on exports and they have a large population that isn't all living in luxury.

Power in the post-Cold War geopolitical arena is determined largely by a combination of economic power and activity, which are both categories in which China is still nowhere near the US. American GDP is still well over double China's GDP, and its government is more active on the geopolitical stage than China by miles. Russia has somewhat less economic power than China, but due to its high level of activity, it actually has more influence on world affairs than China by a significant margin.

America can totally stop 2,250,000 troops(Not including reserve), and all the armoured vehicles........America wouldn't be able to win without outside help. They use chemical warfare and are researching particle weapons......That sounds pretty high tech to me.

The, quite frankly, childish "who would win in a fight" means of determining power does not actually work in the real world.

Yes that is a web page that lists some weapons. It is still just you making a blanket statement ;) I've seen more than enough info to indicate that Chinese military superiority exists at this point in numbers of troops stranded on their mainland only.

Proof that America is the most powerful military?? Last time I checked more guns win a war. And a military does have a relation to being a world superpower.

America is still the superpower, China will take it's place in a few years unless Obama changes things which I think he will. India will be the worlds super power though by 2020.

And they have the technology........Their economy might of went down a bit, but they still have a vast amount of resources to maintain their current military. Americas military is pretty shattered right now. I wonder how long it will take before America starts cutting back on their military funding.

The United States has something like 9 Aircraft carriers in commision.. The next country to even come close is Great Britain, and they have I believe only one.... Though its debatable if Untied States would win a invasion and occuption.. China certainly could not win a war when the United States Navy and air force would beat them to a pulp.. Sure they may have a bigger army or more land based armor.. But the pacific ocean splits them apart, and with the amount of navel forces we have.. China would never win.

Because you say so? That seems to be mostly all you've got in these threads. I'm not quite sure what your goal is with these things. Personally I doubt you've done much of any reading on the topic.

Economic power and food production capacity major factors as well, both of which the US surpasses China in by a rather significant margin.

I highly doubt that China has more modern warfare experience than the US. They lag behind the US in technology...my guess is you just want to diss the US.

And they vastly outnumbered Japan in WWII. Look at how that went.

Napoleon's army vastly outnumbered the Russian army. Look at how that went.

The Greek army at Marathon was vastly outnumbered by the Persians. Look at how that went.

See where I'm going with this?

Perhapes you should hear the story of what happened to the attempted Spainsh Invasion to England.. The Armada outnumbered the english significantly, they also were going to ferry 60k men from northern france to England through the Armada.. England was only capable of mustering 10k soldiers.. What happened? Armada was never able to ferry those men over, and they were broken into a route by demolition ships that caused no direct damage.. So yet again, numbers do not mean anything.. China would not be able to ferry any o fthose soldiers over.. China is no where near the technology of the United States.. The US has upwards to 9 Aircraft carriers, China has 0.. We also have the most nuclear submarines, and the largest most advanced air force.. You clearly don't know anything about warfare if you are using flat out numbers. China doesn't have the logistics to ever be able to move that army in a position to threaten the US in its current state.. What will happen? The United States will destroy China's navy, blockade their harbors.. and do bombing runs taking apart their industries..

[QUOTE="Vilot_Hero"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]Seems to be based on assumption and not facts. Oh...we've known how to use chemical warfare for a long time dude. China is just catching up.;)LJS9502_basic

China has been using chemical warfare for decades. They have had more military experience than the USA. And the technology is the same as Americas.

I highly doubt that China has more modern warfare experience than the US. They lag behind the US in technology...my guess is you just want to diss the US.

You do realise that China has good military training(Canada has better though)??? What proof shows that America beats China in terms of technology?

If we're talking strictly in terms of being a "military superpower", then the USA automatically wins, because they have enough nukes to kill everyone on Earth, including themselves.

Canada ftw. What, with their JTF. No one even stands a chance. Maybe if Scandinavia separates from the EU and unites under a single banner.

yeah violet why havn't you been banned yet?

china's military is big, but remember: its not about manpower, its about the power of the man

and from observation i can see, the u.s. soldier is one powerful mother***r (not to say china has bad soldiers, but can you really expect them to field that many men and have each are as well trained and supplied as the u.s.)

but thats just for the military part

economically i can defenitely see them rise up (still some economically backward parts of the country, mostly in the mainland, but they are catching up) but only time will really tell.

btw canada will NEVER be a superpower, theres just nothing about it that really stands out, no geograpically, socially, economically, or politically, so unless maple syrup becomes as valuable as uranium one day, you can count on it being just "another" western country :P

[QUOTE="Vilot_Hero"][QUOTE="sSubZerOo"] .. More guns do not win a war.. Tactics, strategy, and much more are equated in.. Perhapes you should read up on pass wars.. sSubZerOo

Just look at the number the number of troops for each side. China vastly outnumbers America.

America may have more Aircraft carriers, but that still doesn't prove that China doesn't have the technology to compete with America. The number of troops does not relate to technology.

Just looked it up we have 12 nuclear powered Air Craft carriers, working on another one.. China has zippo.. The Aircraft carrier is the top of military technology and effectiveness... It is one of the most advanced pieces of hardware we have.

And what arbitrary guidelines did you use to determine "good training"? On the issue of tech: American aircraft are more advanced, American military intel (satellite infrastructure and such) is more advanced, American tanks are more advanced, American naval vessels are more advanced, etc. And it doesn't matter anyway-the ocean is China's main means of moving goods around the world and receiving goods in return, so if America were to blockade their ports with their vastly superior navy, China would be, quite frankly, screwed.

When Nuclear war breaks out and Canadians are saved by the maple syrup they've slathered over their bodies(which you'll find it the perfect defense of nuclear radiation), they'll take the world when it's vulnerable.

You have no clue what your talking about.. China if it had 10 times of what it has now could not do squat.. With no navy you can not cross a ocean.. And yes technology is directly related to the air craft carrier, it is the most effecitve and dangerous weapon other than nuclear ordance we have on the battlefield.. China can not compete with the United States in open warefare if it were a conventional war that did not involve nukes..

Last time I checked more guns win a war.Vilot_Hero

Hold the phone.

I would give my vote to Canada. We have 100,000 troops of pure firepower, and JTF2. India doesn't have that great of special forces and they don't have technology as good as Canada. I'm 100% sure that Canada has better tanks, weapons and everything.Vilot_Hero

How can you vote for India???Their technology isn't on the same level as Canada. They don't even have a great special forces team...Where as Canada does.Vilot_Hero

I think people are ignoring the fact that Canada has far better weapons than India. Better technology will serve you greatly in a war.Vilot_Hero

Hmm.

The US has a better trained and more advanced military. China's economy maybe growing but the US one is still larger by far! Also it hasn't been proven how much longer China can sustain such growth being so dependent on imports, that alone will cause problems and limit their power.

Maybe they could use their billion people to make a human bridge across the Pacific to roll the tanks over. =)
