This thread is not about whether the death sentence is wrong or right, but if it could be linked to SD.

We execute prisoners because in the long run they, are considered(note not by everyone) a liability to society. We keep them locked up where they can not cause trouble or have children and spread their DNA. And finally when their date comes they are killed. But they are not killed because of a genetic flaw but because of actions they have taken, and isn't Social Darwinism considered to prevent genetic weakness.

I did not create this thread to offend anyone, this is just a topic that popped into my head and my thougts on it. Also I can not unbold this :P

It could very well be thus.

But an unintentional SD, or maybe not... :o

No. Prisoners are executed because they make others unable to survive and reproduce. :P

Yes, they became a liability to everyone else. And they do make it harder for me to get laid.

Yes, but strictly speaking "social Darwinism" refers to the philosophy that those who can't make it in life should be left to die (or in its more extreme version, even be encouraged or caused to die). The execution of prisoners has nothing to do with whether or not they're capable of surviving on their own.

I don't think so.... laws create criminals not biology.. I don't think if you kill enough people people will cease to stop breaking the law.. because people are always making or altering laws to fit the cultural settings.. or for reasons of power and authority. You'd have to consistently kill people.. for the same crime.. that's not happening. It's pretty arbitrary. ALSO many people on death row have all ready reproduced by the time they get there.'

SO you'd have to kill their children and other family members to practice what you're saying.

BTW the death penality is wrong.

Furthermore, not that many people actually get executed (at least here in the USA). If it was social darwinism, I think that the death penalty would have to be implemented a LOT more often to even have the appearance of being effective.
