No..Reviews are only an opinion by them and everyone differs in taste.

Nope....reading reviews gives you an overview...but an arbitrary number does not.

I never really take the score into account, I read the whole review and level up the good and the bad to my taste.  For example, I am big Advance Wars fan and knew I would really enjoy Military Madness on the Wii VC, so even though it got 7.8 I bought it and it's the only VC game I own but I've played it more than a couple of actual Wii games.

No, I know what I like and can usually tell by watching a few gameplay videos and by the type of game it is

I'll generally read a wide range of reviews from different sites before deciding whether to buy a game, although there are still occasions where I don't get what I expect.

Reviewers are supposed to be unbiased and judge only the game not from their point of view but from their professional point of view which means their taste is the last thing they should base the score on. Take a strategy game for example if a reviewer like strategy games and he judges the game either because he like the genre then he will give them high scores or low score if he doesn't like stragtegy games. In gamespot's case, I don't always trust the reviews sometimes I find user reviews more helpful.

Its always good to see other people's opinions on stuff before you buy it, but ultimately whether or not I buy a game depends simply on if I think I'll enjoy the game. Just because a game did terribly on GS doesn't automatically mean that I won't enjoy it.

I look at them sometimes but I usually go to gamerankings.com for reviews..cuz they gather all the reviews and get an average. I read the review too if the game looks interesting, and if it does, I rent it first.

There are a select few games I would buy without them getting good reviews. All my other games are because Gamespot and a few other sources gave them an 8.0 or better.

well i actually think we all do. If GS gave a game 1.2 i am sure not very many people would buy it and if it gave a game 10 i am sure alot more people would buy it.

It depends on the reviewer.  Since it's their opinion, I like to make sure their opinion about other games is more or less the same as my own before they get and sort of credential in my book.

I also try to check the user-created  reviews for a title first and see what people say in the forums (though that last one is a LOT less relevant).

i'll look at their score, then check out the "they say" general score to see if the game has a good general opinion on it, although that doesn't stop me from looking at other sites

No, I might buy a game I normally wouldn't due to many good reviews from various sources, but ultimately, If I'm hyped about a game and I think it looks fun, I'll get it.  Two good examples were Red Steel and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, two games I really enjoyed despite poor scores.

The actual review is much more helpful than the score.

No but if a couple of other sites has the same ratings, then I'll start to think cautiously.

i don't have a lot of money to spend on games, so i usually buy games that have recieved good reviews from a lot of different sources. sometimes though there's a game that's coming out that you want to play regardless of the reviews it recieves. i'll buy the new nights game for the wii when it comes out (even if the reviews aren't favorable), because i loved the first one so much.
