Is GameSpot slowly dying out?

Hi, first i'd like to say I live in different time zone than US. But a year or so ago there were about 8000 people online at the same time with me. Now there are only 2000

So what do you think?

Ps: sorry if my english is bad. It's my 4th language after all :P

A sizeable portion of the posters are under 18 and since school is in session that would explain the decreased activity at this time.

Activity usually increases in the evening (Greenwich Time) - that's when all* the Americans come on.

it seems that way sometimes but i manly post during work hours. i usually hit the boards that are releasing new games but i haven't seen anything of interest lately.

Yes, this too is correct. Now that you mentioned it, there has been a decline in activity and good threads ever since they started banning the OT gamespot regulars on what seems like a daily basis. Then some jumped ship to giantbomb when it opened.

You mean bans that people recognize.... that's not reflective of the number of over all bans :P

there are a lot of gaming websites out there... maybe people are just moving elsewhere. internet migration and all that.

imo, gamespot posting links to other reviews may be having a huge impact. if people here don't like gamespot reviews they can easily move onto a different site's review. and if that is how they feel consistently, then they may just go there first.

it would be like if GamePro Magazine posted reviews from EGM writers on its pages. If you like EGM writers better, wouldn't you switch publications?

that said, this is still one of the busiest Video Game related forums i've ever been to. always something interesting to read about... and because they link to other sites, they are always up to date.

I think school happened.

It's funny, when it was the summer people complained this place was unactive the reason because it was the summer and everyones outside. Now it's unactive because of school :Paaronmullan

ha ain't that the truth, and then when Winter Break comes around there will be people saying oh everyone is out playing in the snow or some other excuse for a lot of people being unactive :P

Actually I feel, that the quality of this site is also dropping. I'm a pc gamer, and well, pc get a lot less reviews, tech news etc.

But it sure is the prettiest site:D And it was pretty easy to navigate untill that latest site update :P

Indeed, how can i post when i am banned every other day for some stupid reason? or because i wasnt dealing with an issue in an appropriate manner, lol wut is this some baby ****. -.-

i haven't noticed any lasting change here because of that website... the only day it slowed down activity here significantly was on launch day.

people came back pretty quickly. i wonder why...

let's see, you can contribute to creating a brand new resource with an awkward interface... or you can add to an already pretty impressive one here at gamespot that has most of it's wrinkles ironed out...

i get my news from giant bomb and 1up

but i keep coming back here for the forums that is all.
