Pretending to be Fair and Balanced? Or are they honest and forthright in their intentions? Please do not censor this thread. I feel under the circumstances its a legitimate discussion that needs to be explored .

Wow. Are you aware that every other major gaming site does the same things Gamespot is being accused for?

That's a bit of a stretch. With Fox News, they make idiotic lies (for example, when they claimed Al Qaeda caused the California wildfires) and report uninportant news because that's just how they are. With Gamespot, at least they report important news. The reviews may at times be questionable, but it's hardly comparible to Fox.

No. Absolutely no. Does anyone realize that if all this stuff is true then Jeff was fired FOR being completely honest and unbiased? The whole site has been.

I'm not talking about the whole firing a person. They're just all companies that want money. That's the main thing everyone's getting angry at, but they've for some reason just been introduced to the evils of corporate America over an incident that might not be true.

I realize sites need to make money. But there has to be FULL disclosure that ALL reviews from here forward are NOT COMPLETELY free of corporate influence.

First off screw the whole FoxNews is the devil because a conservative runs it. CNN is runned by a ***ing socialist, Ted Turner. So yeah.....

Secondly, I trust game sites as long as I trust the personality. Some gamesites have specific personalities that they allow us to know and love. Which is what happened with Jeff. As homosexual as this sounds, we all love him and we all trust him. I'd loan him $50 bucks...hell $100, because I feel like I know him. So this is why it hits so hard.

Point is as a public are we really benifiting from websites such as this one getting paid to give a positive review? We NEED tio have standards as a public and say WE WILL NOT SUPPORT this or ANY OTHER site that lets this sort of thing happen. Its we the public who can ultimately hold them responsible. DO NOT BUY KANE AND LYNCH and DISCOURAGE others as well. Thats how we win.

Is it really that important? I'm going to get that game actually. The whole anti-CNet and anti-Eidos thing has fully encouraged me to buy it because people are overreacting over this rumor. Just to be clear that wasn't the reason I'm deciding to buy it, I think the game looks cool.

Well I agree with the second paragraph 100%. No one said Fox News was the devil. They simply cannot be taken seriously as a real News channel.

Aww, geez. Jeff Gerstmann was fired? That sucks. He was really good (I apologize if this is old news I've been snowboarding all weekend)

Anyway, I don't think Gamespot is the Fox News of gaming websites. If anything, IGN is. Gamespot seems fairly balanced in their reporting, which is the opposite of Fox News...

(BTW, there's a kid at my University who thinks Fox News is the most balanced source of news, so...)

Being the Fox News of gaming websites is a major compliment. It means they are good at reporting what's going on in the gaming world as well as kicking the competition's butt. Major compliment! Now if you called them the MSNBC of gaming sites then that meant all of 5 people log on here. It would also mean gamespot was completely irrelevant as well as dishonest smear merchants. So being the fox news of the gaming sites is a cool thing.

Not that it makes it right, and this is getting off-topic (however, I feel it needs to be said), I hope you realize Fox News is not the only one who is guilty of claiming to be trust-worthy, only for them to be bias. CNN and MSNBC are just as guilty, with the only difference being they are on the other side of the spectrum.

Is getting reviews from reviewers who are free of FEAR and FREE to be honest important? YES! Its important to ME my pocketbook ....oh yeah and the future of whats left of this site.

Actually I don't see much of a difference between either party so the answer would be NO! And the Fox News critics never bother to mention that the majority of their achors are democrats.

FACT: Fox news is owned by a die-hard conservative Australian that calls Fox news every morning and tells them how to slant the news. Sure CNN leans liberally, but they don't intentionally bias it like Fox does

Okay, this has just diverged into a practical name calling hissy fit now. Apparently now is not a good time for this thread...Don't bother posting it again if you're going to resort to name calling withing 20 posts.
