I don't see enough honest scientific research to prove it to me.  And with my own observations, I don't notice anything amiss.

I believe that the earth is gradually warming up and that it is most likely because of Humans.  Will half of Florida be submerged underwater in 5 years?  No.

Yeah we know it's happening and I think it's caused by humans. But for those grim things like Florida to be submerged would take 100 years. Of course we have to do something about it now though.

Its all BS.  The Earth's temperature went through dramatic changes prior to humans being here.  There used to be ice that connected Asia and North America, but it melted...and that wasn't because of humans affecting the environment.  Recent global warming is just a scare tacting that liberals like throwing around.

 Right on.

Let's not forget that 20 years ago, liberals were screaming about global cooling.

Yes, im in an environmental class in school right now and Im taking it in college. There is to much proff that says it is. Ive read and watched things on it. Everyone says well the earth has always done this, well never this much. Ths CO2 lvls are 2-3 times higher then they ever been in 600,000 years, that should be proof enough, because this jump in c02 started once human began to become dominant on earth and jumped even more as we grew, expanded and became the society we are today.

Thankyou! It's funny that anyone, conservative or liberal, always reaches the same consensus after taking an environmental class, while the nonbelievers claim to have "done research on their own."  I always say the same thing...You really believe it isn't happening?  Take a class, here the instructor out. learn the processes involved in the rising temperatures, and come to your own decision.  And guess what, the decision is always the same.

The vast majority of it is all manufactured. If you look at graphs profiling the Earth's temperature every few thousand years the temperature will rise sharply (as it's doing now) and then an ice-age will occur. It is, however, rising faster now than it ever has before but you have to set a precedence at some point. Human carbon dioxide emissions only contribute to 1% of the world's total carbon dioxide levels... though that 1% still making a difference.

true...but we're not talking about total CO2 levels...we're talking about atmospheric CO2 levels.  And atmospheric CO2 levels have risen Dramatically, from 300 or so ppm to 370 ppm.

Because one completely biased movie can prove everything?  I've taken a college level environmental class also.  And I also know that cows release more greenhouses gases into the environment than any form of human transportation.

Of course you will believe in global warming after taking an enviornmental course? Who teaches these courses, the same envriomentalists who spew their BS about global warming.

I put an enviormental course on the same level as Al Gore's fictional movie because your not getting a balanced view. The professors teaching are biased towards global warming so of course that is what you will be taught to believe.

Bias? Yes, really one sided, your right, but this side is much bigger than the non believers seeing how more scientist believe in it. What does cows and transportation have anything to do with this. Is that ll you base your proof on? Its alot more indepth than that.

That causes a catch 22. People who wont accept global warming wont ever do so. They will always find a reason to disbelieve the information they are told, as if it were some soviet-era conspiracy to take over the world.

...You do get a balance view.  You hear the arguements of those who don't beleive in it.  And you hear the proof and the facts behind the reasoning of those who do believe in it.  Honestly, people like you wouldn't believe in it until they wake up the next morning and its 150 degrees outside.  And even then you'd say, meh, we couldn't have caused it.  It's natural!

I think the debate in the scientific community is over. We might not have caused it, but we certainly enhance it.

Right on.

Let's not forget that 20 years ago, liberals were screaming about global cooling.

And also lets not forget that republicans are always screaming about middle-aged black men being some massive threat to people's nice suburban homes. Everyone uses scare tactics, and the conservatives do it on a daily basis to make millions of americans rush out and buying loads of guns is going to solve some problem that really isnt there.

agreed.  The only people arguing about this are the masses.  No scientist, and I mean any scientist, will tell you its not happening.  Nobody who's done their research is still putting up excuses.

Then what do you say about things like the recent UN report, which "lowered estimates of mankind's impact on the earth's climate by 25 percent?"

Also...from a news article about this UN report:

"That global warming alarmism was "more hype than fact" should not surprise those who have heard the more than 10 speeches on climate change Inhofe has given, the senator said.

"Even the U.N. appears to now be sobering up and dousing much-needed cold water on the global warming alarmism promoted by much of the mainstream media, Hollywood, NASA scientist James Hansen and former Vice President Al Gore," Inhofe added.

They are far and in between in reality, not in the media. Their theories are horrifically week. One article I read claimed that global warming scientists were overlooking that water absorbs CO2, and of course this article overlooked that this depends on temperature and therefore would make virtually no difference in the polar ice caps.

right.  Al gore silences them.  OK.  So where are these scientists you speak of?  It may be in Al Gore's interest to "silence" these fictional scientists, but its not in the conservatives interest.  In fact, the conservatives could use these "scientists" to attempt to disprove this whole big liberal conspiracy.  Oh wait.  They've already tried doing that you say?  Well, I hate to break it to you, but people on the payroll of an oil company don't count.  Sorry.

Yes, im in an environmental class in school right now and Im taking it in college. There is to much proff that says it is. Ive read and watched things on it. Everyone says well the earth has always done this, well never this much. Ths CO2 lvls are 2-3 times higher then they ever been in 600,000 years, that should be proof enough, because this jump in c02 started once human began to become dominant on earth and jumped even more as we grew, expanded and became the society we are today.

eo12601

Thankyou! It's funny that anyone, conservative or liberal, always reaches the same consensus after taking an environmental class, while thenonbelievers claim to have "done research on their own."

That causes a catch 22. If you get advice from anyone other than a scientist people say "o well its a scientist, theyre going to say that, so it doesnt count" but if you go and get information from soneone else people say "theyre not qualified, what do they know". People who wont accept global warming wont ever do so. They will always find a reason to disbelieve the information they are told, as if it were some soviet-era conspiracy to take over the world.

There are scientists who don't buy into this human caused global warming conspiracy. Of course Al Gore and the liberal media silences them.

Sorry.

Exactly. The real reason why conservatives deny this is because, in truth, the oil companies have a big say in any environmental legisaltion that may be passed. If global warming were to be accepted by George Dubya, then oil would be frowned upon and people would be more lilkely to go electric or hydrogen. And that wouldnt be good for texan oil barons would it.

I think people are deaf or cant read. They always use the excuse, well its always gone up and down, and theres been ice ages, and the dumbest one i just read, volcanoes give off co2. well anyone who says this has never truly learned about global warming. Never learned that c02 is higher then its ever been in 600,000 years. Thats a big deal, seeing how theres been ice ages, multiple ice ages over the past 600,000, years. Scientist know, that with higher co2, comes higher temp. the co2 graph goes up and down, and the temp graph does the same, however when it gets to the past couple hundred years, it goes up, way up, higher then ever in the past 600,000. What caused this? what cause it to get so high? Volcanoes? but those have been around for millions of years? Cows? how would they be enough to get so high. Its all because of humans. The stuff we have done to our planet. The people who dont believe are uneducated or only look at it from one side. They cant open there mind and refuse to be wrong, they cant comprehend the fact that humans can do so much dmg to such a large planet. These are the people running our country, these are the people who look away, and these are the people who will ultimately be responsible for whats to come, all because they refuse to accept something thats been proven over and over by multiple scientist not just Al Gore, refuse to accept the truth.

" A United Nations study due for release early next year will reportedly lower estimates of mankind's impact on the earth's climate by 25 percent, a development a leading climate change skeptic in the U.S. Senate says will pour "cold water" on "global warming alarmism."

"We are all skeptics now," Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the U.S. Senate Environment & Public Works Committee, said in response to media leaks on a report by the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is set to be published next February.

London's Telegraph reported Sunday that the IPCC draft report reduces its overall estimate of the human impact on global warming by one-fourth, and halves its predictions for rises in sea-level by 2100.

The IPCC's new figures are attributed to "a refinement due to better data on how climate works."

The panel's report "says that the overall human effect on global warming since the industrial revolution is less than had been thought, due to the unexpected levels of cooling caused by aerosol sprays, which reflect heat from the sun," the paper said."

Obviously, the UN's scientists don't agree with you.  I guess they're just deaf or can't read, though.

This post is hilarious. But anyway, why does propaganda have to be false anyway? And since when do you have to see the Inconvenient Truth to believe that global warming is happening?

UN scientists are explicitly saying that global warming is indeed caused by man. Just not as much as everyone else says. Why would you post this if you're trying to argue that global warming is not caused by humans?

mumbles...maybe because we are starting to decrease ou CO2 emissions???  Maybe because countries are taking action?  Maybe because we can't see into the future and know how much CO2 countries like China and India will be putting up into the atmosphere in the future?  Anyway, guys just stop talking.  Leonidas owned you all.  As for whiteshadow...you do know there are conservative colleges right?  Ah why do I even bother.  I guess learning and knowledge are liberal BS as well huh?  That explains a lot doesn't it?

As you can see, up until the most recent period we were set to just carry on with the cycle. But then in the past couple hundred years the line went up instead of going down.

that proves nothing. If its cooling then why is it still going up more than ever, where is this factor that makes it so high,if not humans who, who or what on earth, in the past 1000 or so years appeared that wasnt there before that could cause the change. If not humans, who or what else, that hasnt been here for 600,000 years!! could of caused this change?

Reducing people's estimates by 25% is a hell of a lot. Sure, Humans cause some global warming...almost everything does.  Its much less severe than the media would have you believe, and its an unbelievably drastic change from what Al Gore would have you believe in An Inconvenient Truth.  And who knows if this is only a start?
