Not really the same thing. I can't imagine anyone actually hating someone for being ugly, though. Excluding them from their social circle, yes, but hatred isn't a common reaction to ugliness.
Interesting question. My feeling is that they are not on the same level. I don't condone hating anyone especially due to outward appearance but judging someone by their skin color somehow seems worse. It's probably just because I was socialized to think "racism=bad racism=bad" while not getting a comparable message about hating the less attractive.
I have my own question, I am glad this topic is here cause I thought i had to make an entire new topic.
Is it alright to be angry at someone when they begin to brag about their problems and accomplishments, but when I do the same thing to them they dont want to talk to me?

Hating someone for being fat is discrimination. Hating someone for being ugly is discrimination. Hating someone for being a woman is discrimination. Hating someone for being of a different ethnicity than you is discrimination.
