Is it bad that I leave my iPod plugged into the charger? Same with cell?

I have an iPod Touch and I leave it plugged into the USB cord which is always pluged into my computer, therefore, it's practically always being charged. I do this with my phone too, I just leave it connected to the charger when I'm not using it. Is this bad?

I only charge when the battery is very close to being dead. I've always done this.

Don't thinkt that has so much to say with newer batteries. The "memory effect" is gone, besides sometimes if you let the batteries run low, the voltage gets lower. And it won't go back up when you charge it. Me thinks that is.

It is only bad if you like having NO BATTERY LIFE That ruins the battery I had a friend do the same thing with a laptop...he just left it plugged in like a pc all the time After a while he tried to take it places (like a normal person does with a laptop) and the battery only lasts about 30 min.

I was told that it doesn't matter.. but apparently the whole reason why I needed to buy an iPod Classic was because my iPod VIDEO 80GB(fat, same width as the 160) lasts about 2hours now.. Cause I left it charged like overnight, continuously.

people are too connected to technology these days..

it should be a law that once a year you have to go a month without using any form of eletrical device.

It doesn't matter. The main thing that drants the battery is if you manually skip to songs alot.

With Lithium Ion batteries it's best to keep them at a 40% charge, and as cold as possible. Though my source indicates that you lose 5x more battery life (20%) w/ a 100% charge this hasn't been my personal experience. One thing about keeping the device plugged in is heat. Higher temps reduce your batteries full charge faster than anything else, and often keeping a device constantly on, and plugged in creates quiet a bit of heat. Feel the device, and if it's hot you may want to reconsider leaving it plugged in, and on all the time.
